It’s all upside for Trace at this point. The Cards are a mess and the expectations are low. If he comes out and beats the Goat, he’ll be a hero, but no one outside of the locker room is expecting them to be able to compete.
I think this is the Sunday night game so he gets a big national audience. Combine that with on Christmas night vs the Goat, huge stage for him. Really cheering for him to do great!
We will see. But even if they do, our hope is for Trace to play great in the midst of being boat raced!
Hope he proves me wrong but after watching him last week I'm expecting David Blough to play by the half.

Did you watch him play last week? Just because he played at Penn State doesn't mean we can't be honest about him at the NFL level. I think they'll go to Blough sooner than later but Trace is a good guy and a fighter so I'm hoping he comes out and shocks me

Why don't you just sit back, check your expectations and enjoy this Christmas evening present to the Penn State faithful. Their all-time leading QB, who isn't good enough at anything, gets his first professional start, you don't need to remind everyone how good he isn't or replace him before the game even starts.

Hackenberg wasn't great--he was talented. There's a huge difference
Trace wasn't terrible. He was a solid college QB that looked better than he was because of Barkley and Miles
Franklin's an average coach not horrible...overpaid and doesn't win big games often. Took a huge step this year beating the teams he should. I had zero complaints about 2022
We didn't beat a good team this year but destroyed almost everyone we did beat which is a sign of a good team.

It's funny watching them trying to create interest in these games. Rams-Broncos for example.
Both QBs were awful in the first quarter--although that seems to be a theme in the NFL this season. Russell Wilson can't set a much lower bar for people.
The "GOAT" is a miserable SOB who should have stayed retired. Trace looks better than Russell Wilson did earlier. My gosh what a pathetic turnover machine he turned into.
He's had time the majority of the night. Trace just isn't an NFL caliber starting QB--fortunately for him Brady's been just as bad tonight.
Trace isn't going to win any starting jobs with that performance. He made a couple plays but overall could not really move the team well. Very few downfield pass completions. Once it went to OT you kinda knew the Bucs had it especially with Brady at the helm. I didn't see Trace engineering a TD drive or even a FG drive in OT. Glad he got the opportunity. Hopefully he learns from it and improves.
They called the game to protect him from making the big mistake. Everything was to the sidelines. Other than the fumble early he did about as well as could be expected. Hit the one deep pass. Nobody got hurt (well I guess a few guys got hurt). He saved several sacks by getting the ball away. He didn't throw three picks and take five sacks which I sorta expected and almost won the game.
Hes a nfl backup QB. Pretty good for a 3 star HS safety if you ask me.

His stat line was bad but…. The fumble was due to a missed assignment. The LT let the DE run in unblocked. The other fumble on the pitch looked bad. Not sure who that was on. The coaches will know. The INT was on a Hail Mary. Bottom line is he lost with a terrible team. He’s not a Savior. The Cards are a train wreck with few bright spots.
the way too cute decision to fake the Conner run and flip it outside to the rookie was stupid and that fumble was a brutal turn for the Cards
Well, after being advised in this thread that the Cards would get boat raced, Trace would be out of the game by halftime,, etc., it appears that a 3 point loss in overtime was unexpected. I guess sports outcomes are not always what the experts predict. Did Trace play great? Maybe as well as could be expected behind an offensive line that is absolutely helpless. But, I lost a lot of money betting on the board geniuses! 😫
He should have been pulled at the half for Blough. He was completely ineffective and this whole."blaming the OL" is inaccurate. He had time most of the night. Trace is who we know he is. Officially charged with 3 turnovers. Well under 5 yards per attempt. It's a great story he's even in the NFL but he's not an NFL caliber starting QB.
