Trace gets the start

He should have been pulled at the half for Blough. He was completely ineffective and this whole."blaming the OL" is inaccurate. He had time most of the night. Trace is who we know he is. Officially charged with 3 turnovers. Well under 5 yards per attempt. It's a great story he's even in the NFL but he's not an NFL caliber starting QB.
Trace had time most of the night? What game were you watching? He didn’t play well and I don’t think he can play in the NFL but stop the BS.

He had clean pockets often. Watch most of his first half dozen passes to Hopkins. He's just inaccurate and slow to process. In the NFL you're aren't going to get a day to throw. He can't play at the speed of the NFL game. Just like Kyler Murray can't. The line isn't the main issue in Arizona. Trace wasn't even the worst QB to play yesterday (Russ owns that) but blaming the line is pure insanity

You would sure know about insanity.

It’s called I n e x p e r I e n c e.

Have to say that Collingsworth had pretty high praise for Penn State again. Talked about how Trace was used to big games, big crowds, high pressure. Said 100,000 and white out several times. And how Trace and Goodwin were teammates at Penn State and now playing against each other.

Once again, the two loudest detractors of everything PSU were wrong in their predictions. I am sure this will continue into next year as well.

Who said he was an NFL caliber starter? He played well enough to motivate another franchise to keep him employed as insurance should the Cardinals let him go.
He's getting a paycheck and taking snaps in the NFL. The rest of us?

What game we you watching - pretty sure it was tied at the end of regulation. He might not be starting QB in this league but there are mare than a few right now worse then him starting - doesn"t it get tiring saying in the opposite of the truth every time.

Name starting QBs in the league that are worse than him...
There's apparently more than a few...

It's not inexperience. It's lack of the skillset needed. See Zack Wilson.
Do things slow down over time? Sure. But Trace doesn't have the skills required to be a starting QB in the NFL. Hopefully he can make money as a 3rd string guy due to his mobility for the foreseeable future.

Penn State goes 10-2 next year. Just like I said they would this year when many others saw 7-9 wins and still remain surprised we beat Purdue.

Don't bother with this clown. He is super pumped thinking about how we could lose the Rose Bowl.
It's a scrimmage. I don't care if we lose or win. We could get blown out and you won't see me say a single negative thing. The season is over for all but 4 teams.

Notice how much discussion has existed on this board about the bowl games so far this year. No one cares about the bowl. People just pretend they do because of the nostalgia.

Well, I guess the GOAT Brady should have been pulled by halftime also.

I only watched the first half so my comments are based only on that.
First, I thought McSorely rushed things too much after he got smacked on that fumble. He didn't seem comfortable in the pocket. First drive, I thought he did well.
From my perspective, if you had Johnny Unitas or Bart Starr playing for the cardinals last night behind that offensive line, they might both be in the hospital today. It sure seemed to me that by time the ball got to mcsorley and he raised his arm to throw the defense was on him. They couldn't play any kind of passing game beyond 8-10 yards, not enough time to pass.
Not saying McSorley is a starter in the NFL. He certainly wasn't any worse than Wilson (either one), and watching foles tonight, he's not lighting things up either.
My wife told me she read that McSorley will start again next week. Maybe last night's experience will help him. In fairness, there have been quite a few games this year where Tampa Bay defense has held the opponent to 16 points or less. So last nights offensive production by the cardinals was not necessarily an abomination.

I thought Trace played exactly as I would have anticipated.

First, Tampa's got a terrific defense and the Cardinals have been more than disorganized this season. TB did what you'd expect and that is to bring pressure on a QB in his first start. To counter that, you give a QB lots of quick throws and try to get his confidence up while trying to get TB to focus on stopping the run and short passing game. Cards were never able to do that. But the Cards second team LT getting hurt helped the Cards to keep the game close as #16 didn't have much time to throw either.

I would have had trace run the ball more. He managed the game OK and his stars aren't bad. 24 of 45 for 217 yards, not INTs and a fumble (which wasn't his fault). Connor was OK at RB but he's not going to make the D change their scheme. Every offense needs that one player who makes the D compensate. Nobody on the AZ offense was going to create anything to make TB change.

In the end, Trace is a backup and won't embarrass a team. He just doesn't have to tools to create plays (both his physical tools and the players around him).

Which one of them is currently a starter. Maybe Mills but I'd take Mills over Trace
Go ahead beacuse nobody cares - you are a strange person - go out of your way to run down PSU players but claim to be a PSU fan - just weird - you don't seem to like anything about PSU so you might want to pick another team or go with the one you might really be a fan of and stop these nonsense "keeping it real" posts.

The GOAT didn't play well but obviously he has a longer leash as he's proven he can do the job...or do you not comprehend that?
I really do not comprehend much about anything. Fotball. Nope. Teams that should win don't! I.e. colts up 33 points and lose. Referees? Nope. Are they crooked when they miss blatant calls? Don't comprehend it. People constantly arguing on message boards and disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing? Nope! And fellow Penn Staters who can't have a reasonable conversation without ushering in their biases? Absolutely don't get why sports turn people into ego maniacs? Welcome to present day society.

What has Trace shown that makes him better than Davis Mills in the NFL?
Pretty sure I defended Clifford all year and defend the kids the leave and enter the draft early while most bash them because they want them to stay...selfishly
Pretending Trace is a good QB or played well on Xmas doesn't make you a better fan

For some strange reason, they have kept an inept college Qb on their roster, and again, I have no clue why! But the least they could do is put me on the roster so I could be an inadequate back-up. I'd take everybody's criticism gladly if in that situation.

Trace is a practice player. Nothing more, nothing less. That is why he is on the team. Baltimore drafted him to be a practice guy. He is the type of guy you want on that field, not the real one.

They keep him on the roster because he's good to scrimmage against if you're playing a mobile QB. Trace is a great PS/3rd guy for that reason and that reason only. Which makes him better than most guys that played QB in college

But he stinks and is not a proQB. How in the world can he even give a good practice session to the starters. He's worthless and everyone knows it. You can certainly find someone better than TMto give you a practice workout!

He's mobile with a slightly below average arm...perfect for practice. Horrible for games.
