Just seeing that LSU Offensive Coordinator Steve Ensminger's daughter-in-law was killed in a plane crash this morning in Louisiana.

Coordinator for LSU daughter in law killed in plane crash on her way to game.

just showed him walking around the field like it’s another day. Either he is in shock or they weren’t close. I can’t understand how he is able to cos h with such a tragic loss.

Recommend the Violence Paradox from PBS Nova. We might learn something.

Sad to see anyone die. But early reports suggest this was a small (private?) plane crash. I do my very best to avoid small planes whenever possible. Too much can go wrong.

I've had to fly small planes (8 passengers) for work, but don't do it for personal travel.

Prayers with entire LSU family. Love football and it takes up way too much of my time, but this goes way beyond.

Very sad to hear. My daughter flew in a private plane to an away game when she was in a college. A friend of hers father was a wealthy former baseball player at UF who owned his own plane and they flew to the South Carolina game. I was on pins and needles until she got back to campus. That’s because a friend of my father’s had been in two separate small plane crashes and survived both of them, albeit sustaining injuries both times.

They said earlier that they were extremely close.

Yep...I've flown all over the world on business, but refuse to fly general aviation...

GA aviation is relatively safe, just not as safe as commercial aviation. Probably the equivalent of riding a motorcycle. The media hype that surrounds plane crashes tends to skew peoples perceptions but I do understand why some avoid small aircraft. That being said, if you fly all over the world, you might want to check out the safety record of some of those second and third world commercial carriers.
