i am curious if anyone else has seen recent increases in garbage pickup costs. Mine is up from $100/quarter to $132 in a matter of 6 months. A bit pissed off at a 32% increase in such a short period. I am in Massachusetts. Anyone willing to throw out what they are paying for trash removal so I know whether to rip these guys or just pay it (they threw a low price at me a few years back to steal me from waste management).

Service is weekly curbside 95 gallon drum garbage and also 95 gallon weekly recyclables.

I pay 17.00 a month for one can to be picked up curbside weekly. I drop my recyclables about once a month.

For my business I bay 167.00 a month for 3x a week pick up for a 1/2 size dumpster.

172.00 a quarter, with one bag garbage a week. Recycling is loaded every other week. Was 118.00 a year or two ago, then the company was bought out by one of the big boys!

Leb County - $50 or so a quarter.. unlimited garbage (as long as it's in a container curbside)... recycling every other week.. no cardboard though... but company recently was sold to an out of state company, so we shall see what the new one does. They seem to be stretched thinner (I noticed later pickup times).

There are plenty of choices around though. One of the drawbacks to not having an HOA is hearing at least one company's trucks rolling through Monday thru Thursday early in the AM.

I think I pay $116 every six months for up to 3 large garbage bags and recycling. It's in that ballpark.

I pay $20 per month, for basically unlimited removal. I am allowed 1 pick up per month, that is if I have all kinds of piles of trash (not paint, lawn clippings etc) they will come pick it up!!

Wow prices all over the place, but most cheaper than me. Time for a phone call.

Thanks guys.

Not a direct response, but here's what I do to limit my trash costs. Some background first:

- When I redid my kitchen, I installed a trash compactor; great decision.
- I own a pick-up.
- I have a rotating compost bin in the back yard.

I compact all non-food items. I don't have to empty the compactor bag for 6-8 weeks. All non-meat food waste goes to the composter. Waste meat is frozen in bags until time to make a run to the dump. I have a 55 gal trash can that gets slowly filled with stuff that doesn't qualify for the above. Recycling is collected in other cans. No more than once every month or two, I load trash and recyclables in the truck and deliver to the landfill. That costs me about $10 per load for trash. Recyclables are free.

Shut up and pay me

Penn Waste. Red Lion Pa $60.90 every quarter. Truck comes through 6-8 am every Friday morning unless there is a holiday during the week in which the truck has a 75% chance of showing up on Sat (25% no show that week) I've had to replace 5 trash cans in the past 2 years due to damage to the cans or cans just not being there when I get home.

Waste Management in south-central PA. About $58 per quarter. Four garbage containers per week, unlimited recycling per week, one bulk item per week. They also pick up unlimited yard waste twice per month from April through November. Pretty good deal, IMHO.

Massachusetts has some new regulations forbidding some things that can go to a landfill, could be the reason as maybe went into affect in 2019.

Chicagoland northwest suburb: $22.30 / mo / senior citizen rate which is slightly discounted.

Vendor is Groot. Pickup is every Fri morning; Sat morning if a holiday falls into the week. Regular truck about 8AM, recycling truck about noon.

Two large cans: one regular garbage, one recycling.

Contact "Lebanon Levi". I'm sure he could cut you a deal "you can't refuse".:)

There is a huge crisis with the high cost of recycling across America. Profit margins and demand are way down, China has stopped taking much of our paper and plastics for recycling, and landfill prices are going up. Big price increases all over America.
So is there an answer to this?It would seem to be urgent enough of a problem.
