A follow up on the thread about Nolf and Imar potentialy only having losses to each other and if anyone else ever did it. One of the greatest wrestler of all time won a national title his freshman year then came in second his sophomore and junior year and then won title again his senior year. He also stopped one of the longest win streaks (84) at that time on his opponents home mat to win one his second title. His only losses were to 2 different NCAA champs. Anyone can do research on internet, does anyone know who it is without looking it up?

The answer is Darryl Burley. Graduated Lehigh around 1980. His only losses were to Randy Lewis of Iowa and Jim Gibbons of Iowa state. He was a scoring machine in a simaler way of Nolf using numerous moves from top . In his last college bout he beat Mike Land from Iowa state who had won 84 in a row. Somehow Burley never gets mention as one of all time greats.

Your reveal was way too quick. Burley was my guess. Those were real glory years for Lehigh (mid-70s-> mid-80s). They piled up a lot of national champions.

Posting the answer at 5am after putting the question out there after midnight? You must have been one of those kids who blurted out what the gift was as they started to unwrap it at Christmas ;)

I was afraid the thread was getting buried and wanted to respond to the historian request. Sorry for not having patients. The only reason I was up at 5 was to let puppy out. Burley was good.
