I have been hearing this as the main reason for the election outcome from progressive pundits all the way down the chain to social media offerings. Is this true ?
I can say where I work everybody in my office, except for me, voted for Obama in 2008. In 2016, all of these same people voted for Trump. An anecdotal nugget, for sure, but it begs the question in light of the explanation by the Left if these people became racists as the result of the Obama Presidency ?
Is it maybe possible that it wasn't " racism ". Perhaps they did not like the direction of the country. Is it possible that they were not pleased with the accomplishments of this Administration ? Did they feel ignored or disrespected by the leadership ?
When you believe you are infallible, stunning defeats like this happen. They happen in sports, in business and in politics. The Democrats came off as arrogant, their attitude the product of a media echo chamber that had completely disconnected them from the large number of bitter clingers and deplorables that live in flyover country. All their preelection blather of healing divisions quickly dried up when things did not go their way. Some are now talking about violence as a solution to their grievances. Trump is certainly not an ideal candidate, but it looks like people were right to reject the candidate in front of an ideology that holds nothing but implacable hatred for anybody who dares to disagree with it.
