An altered state
He never mentioned race or even hinted at race. He said they 'should go back to where they came from'....a statement that I am sure my grandparents from Czechoslovakia heard many times. As did my other set from Poland. As did the Irish. Or Italians, Germans, Pakistanis, Chinese. At worst, it was an anti-immigrant statement.

But it wasn't even anti-immigrant. He told them to go back and fix the places from which they came (Yes, he was wrong as three of them were born here), fix it, and then come back and tell us how you did it. Essentially, he was saying 'show me.'.....go put your socialist policies in place and make them work....then we will listen to you. First, earn the right to criticize us. Then we will welcome you back and listen to your ideas.

Trump is not very articulate or precise in his language. That allows others to distort his message as they see fit. Sure wish he would learn to be more careful in his speech.

But he is not a racist.
