Pair of former Penn State Football players charged with felonies
A pair of Penn State football players are facing former felonies.
In all fairness, Pitt has had very few disciplinary issues under their current head coach, whose demeanor I despise. This is really the first felonious incident like this under Franklin in eleven seasons and hopefully it will be the last.Pitt will offer them
Leave the gun, take the cannolis. As they say in the Godfather:
Won't see them no more.
Did they get a headache? As they say in the Godfather:
Won't see them no more.
If it means anything we circled back and got Keys after he committed to UNC I believe. So I doubt there were any glaring character flaws. These two are complete idiots and scum bags if these charges are true. Given the opportunity they both had and to throw it all away. So sad and pathetic. I wonder if there was any inclination about their moral character through the recruiting process? Have to think both of them were bad apples in high school. I guess they hid it well.

Yes, keep the victims in mind first and foremost. Just a terrible situation all around.Tragic and heartbreaking for the victim(s). A horrible waste for those two if proven guilty. Unfortunately a bad mark for the program and the University in general, because the usual mutts at Pitt, Rutgers and Iowa will squawk like headless chickens. Unfortunately this happened on Franklins watch, but you just can’t supervise 100 or so testosterone filled young men 24/7. Sad so very sad.
Those mutts will not squawk half as much as the PSU mutts that would squawk 10 times more if this happened to one of theirs. Would be 10 pages of complaining about how they have no class (like we do).Tragic and heartbreaking for the victim(s). A horrible waste for those two if proven guilty. Penn State used to be different from most every other program but that was under a former regime. In fact that is why that loser from LSU dropped the hammer on Penn State when he was running the NCAA. He was embarrassed that Joepa could achieve success with honor while LSU and most others lied, cheated and stole their way to any so called success they were able to achieve. Funny how they tried to take Joe and Penn State down and we’re still standing while the NCAA circles the drain. Coach Franklin has done a good job balancing all the forces in the current environment of college football but nobody can achieve 100% success. As far as you’re concerned, your envy is the one thing that shines through loud and clear. Those mutts will not squawk half as much as the PSU mutts that would squawk 10 times more if this happened to one of theirs. Just goes to show how PSU is no different from any other program.
Still pretending no players were issues under Joe?Penn State used to be different from most every other program but that was under a former regime. Hey, Dipshit, in case you haven’t noticed I’m ignoring you and your buddy Thurston Howell III. Why don’t you two make a date to watch last night’s replay of the best quarterback in football? NFL Network can’t get enough of him.Still pretending no players were issues under Joe?
Sadly, true. Those mutts will not squawk half as much as the PSU mutts that would squawk 10 times more if this happened to one of theirs. Would be 10 pages of complaining about how they have no class (like we do).

Mahomes nor Allen played last nightHey, Dipshit, in case you haven’t noticed I’m ignoring you and your buddy Thurston Howell III. Why don’t you two make a date to watch last night’s replay of the best quarterback in football? NFL Network can’t get enough of him.
There haven't even been many minor incidents under Franklin. You have to admit, we do seem to have more than our fair share of embarrassing controversies.
Just off the top of my head…There haven't even been many minor incidents under Franklin.
I'm reading a book right now on the history of Georgia football and have reached the section dealing with Mark Richt's tenure. Richt is a very religious person and tried to run a very well-behaved program and mostly succeeded. However, he is quoted in the book about when you are dealing with over a 100 kids every year, you're always going to have some disciplinary issues. I stand by my statement that PSU has had a very good disciplinary record under Franklin.Just off the top of my head…
The whole locker room video thing with Rudolph, The team doctor issue, Abdul Carter, somebody fired a gun at a residence a couple years ago. Didn’t somebody beat up a frat boy a couple years ago? Somebody was run off for hooking up with a coaches underage daughter. I’m not even looking them up. There has to be more. These aren’t things I would consider minor.
I don’t disagree with most of what you wrote. I don’t have a problem with Franklin and think he’s probably handled things the right way. Unfortunately the players’ decisions reflect on the university as a whole.I'm reading a book right now on the history of Georgia football and have reached the section dealing with Mark Richt's tenure. Also, the incident in question occurred before summer practice even had started; the individuals are the ones to be blamed with making choices that put themselves in a criminal situation and not Franklin or the program that he runs.
I don’t really agree. PSU has had a lot of problems in the last 30 years and, I suspect, we just didn’t hear about them before. Joe was all about education and had zero tolerance but players came and left, but we didn’t always know why.Penn State used to be different from most every other program but that was under a former regime. I can tell you for a fact that there are Penn State players who try to use the "I'm on the football team." card to get girls. And there are also girls stupid enough to fall for it, and put themselves in situations where they are alone in a room. So the coaching staff needs to remind the athletes about consent issues on a weekly basis- not just after something bad happens, or once early in the season.I feel like stuff like this happens everywhere, unfortunately. I do think Franklin attempts to recruit high character kids, but let’s face it, he’s being paid in the 8 figures to win football games, and you gotta take some chances. Jim also didn’t have much time with these guys to help mentor them. Football players are just not your average person, both in mentality and of course stature. Playing football is hard, it hurts, it kinda takes a person with unnatural aggression to go out there and hit people day after day. Some of these kids just go sideways with that mindset.
It happened to Joe to, especially at the end, but he had bad apples even at his peak. Joe was likely more concerned with recruiting high character young men who were good students than perhaps any major college power. But he made mistakes on bad kids, and some good kids made bad mistakes.
It happened to Joe his entire career--it was just easier to cover up the further you go backI feel like stuff like this happens everywhere, unfortunately. Do you remember when the FSU kicker Scott Bentley recorded one of his sexual encounters so that he could use it just in case he was accused of rape?I can tell you for a fact that there are Penn State players who try to use the "I'm on the football team." card to get girls. And there are also girls stupid enough to fall for it, and put themselves in situations where they are alone in a room. So the coaching staff needs to remind the athletes about consent issues on a weekly basis- not just after something bad happens, or once early in the season.

Why are you so offended by my statement, Karen? Is this the part where you bring up some nonsensical trash talk about Paterno? Is that a crime?
I tell them I am rich or with the band.
Should my advisor take action?

Franklin has repeatedly claimed that it's a "family environment", and so this is a conversation that the staff should be having with its "sons".Why did you make the statement in the first place?
We went from felonies to you complaining about players smooth talking girls.
Ps. Some players even tell girls they love them. Franklin needs to put his foot down. Sarcasm
There is no shame in you being stupid you were born that way. When did the position of head coach make anyone omnipresent. The message for you in this post is pissing in the wind is bad for your health.Franklin has repeatedly claimed that it's a "family environment", and so this is a conversation that the staff should be having with its "sons".

James Franklin risks family admonishing him to illustrate Penn State atmosphere
Penn State head coach James Franklin talks about the family atmosphere at PSU, and he may have embarrassed a family member while doing so.www.on3.com
“That’s really important to me and I think it’s really important to Penn State, that sense of family and community,” Franklin said.
These athletes are on campus because the coaching staff encouraged them to enroll, allegedly to get an education first, and to play a sport second. They are being "compensated" to be a part of the student body (normal students pay out of pocket for tuition, room, and board), and some feel that they should be held to a higher standard (whether right or wrong). So the coaches do bear some degree of responsibility when this kind of stuff happens, regardless of whether that is fair or not. Any coach from any program can bury their head in the sand and say "Well, can't control 100 kids!", but that is a complete cop out.
I don’t even have anything to do with the football program, but as a rational human being I am mortified and embarrassed about this situation. If it's an aberration, then so be it, but if it becomes a pattern moving forward, then the coaches' responsibility increases exponentially ("Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me").
Yeah the hell with the parents telling their kids rape and sexual assault is nor acceptable. Geez.Franklin has repeatedly claimed that it's a "family environment", and so this is a conversation that the staff should be having with its "sons".

OK, well you Rip, and/or Obliviax can feel free to name another Head Coach who is currently employed who has two major gang rape scandals involving his players at two separate Universities.Yeah the hell with the parents telling their kids rape and sexual assault is nor acceptable. Geez.
These kids are adults. When you turn 18/16 (depending upon the state and the action) you are considered an adult. I don't think Franklin, Penn State, or anyone needs tell them that raping a person is OK. Perhaps what fork to use when you go out to dinner, what to do pre-game. How to prepare for tests. Nutritian to make you a better athlete. Sleep habits. Whatever, but I don't see PSU football having a have a powerpoint slides on things to not do in order to stay part of the football family:There is no shame in you being stupid you were born that way.
