Football Pair of former Penn State football players charged with felonies

As they say in the Godfather:

Won't see them no more.

I dont partake in Greenscreenianity but i did just hang up grandpa's framed with Collins, Franco, Cappy and Paterno - very modern art I call them County Kerry and the doo wop muddafuggas

Penn State used to be different from most every other program but that was under a former regime. In fact that is why that loser from LSU dropped the hammer on Penn State when he was running the NCAA. He was embarrassed that Joepa could achieve success with honor while LSU and most others lied, cheated and stole their way to any so called success they were able to achieve. Funny how they tried to take Joe and Penn State down and we’re still standing while the NCAA circles the drain. Coach Franklin has done a good job balancing all the forces in the current environment of college football but nobody can achieve 100% success. As far as you’re concerned, your envy is the one thing that shines through loud and clear.
I'm as big of a JoePa fan as anybody but he also had some out of control players. Remember LaVon Chisley?

And don't forget JoePa actually made the cover of Sports Illustrated for the offseason where something like 35 players were arrested (that was the year with the Scirotto brawl over someone's girlfriend getting insulted.) That was a sign that the program wasn't the tight ship that it had been (or that PSU fans thought it was).

Hundreds and hundreds of players flow through a football program -- and it will be more with the transfer rules. I'm sure Franklin and staff are really diligent about getting to know players and their families before scholarship offers get out, but there are going to be mistakes sometimes.

Anyway there's no reason for people to freak out about it. Unlike the latter Paterno years, I don't think there is a pattern here. Franklin's teams have had very few criminal arrests.

OK, well you Rip, and/or Obliviax can feel free to name another Head Coach who is currently employed who has two major gang rape scandals involving his players at two separate Universities.

Are we going to just say "Shit happens!" when it happens a third time?
Hyperbole much?

Hey, Dipshit, in case you haven’t noticed I’m ignoring you and your buddy Thurston Howell III. Why don’t you two make a date to watch last night’s replay of the best quarterback in football? NFL Network can’t get enough of him.

I can tell you for a fact that there are Penn State players who try to use the "I'm on the football team." card to get girls. And there are also girls stupid enough to fall for it, and put themselves in situations where they are alone in a room. So the coaching staff needs to remind the athletes about consent issues on a weekly basis- not just after something bad happens, or once early in the season.
I’d be using that too 😎. Obviously consenting situations by all parties. Guys that force themselves on women are total scum.

The girl I was seeing at the time had a drunk Kerry Collins (but that's redundant), during the 1994 season, come up to her and use the "Do you know who I am?" line on her. She shut him down right away because she wasn't into dumb horse-toothed alcoholics, but these guys don't have much else going for them, so who can blame them for falling back on that?

But I think that's different than a guy forcing himself on a girl. Yeah, there's a shared level of entitlement/expectation there, I guess ... but there's another step in the depravity department you have to take to think that you're going to take it anyway, even if consent isn't given.

People like you are the problem here. Never the player’s fault; someone else is always to blame. Ever hear of personal responsibility or is that a foreign concept for you?

I was hoping that someone else would post this - innocent until proven guilty.

17 year old girl plied with alcohol and weed, and they were dumb enough to make a video. Please don't say things that make the fan base appear like delusional cult members.

All that I am stating is that all that evidence gets presented at the trial. The defense challenges it, and the judge or a jury makes a decision. Then they will be declared guilty and sentence to a long time in jail. But they still have a right to defend themselves. We don't know yet what their defense will be.

And I all I said initially is that the Coaching staff should have regular sexual assault educational programming. Heck, even frat boys (who pay their own way) are mandated to participate in sexual assault, drug/alcohol, AND hazing seminars.

But yeah, in this case there was a timely report, there is a witness, there is a video, and the males got caught in lies, so it appears to be one of the more clear cut cases. Plus this is at least the 3rd player caught using weed over the summer, and they are also only 19, and thus drinking underage. And unfortunately it reflects on the football program (whether it should or not), as evidenced by the thousands of online articles.

This is a very teachable moment for the players still on the team, and for future enrollees.

No one ever said we didn’t.

Guy (maybe ?) who never wore a jockstrap says what?

I don’t really agree. PSU has had a lot of problems in the last 30 years and, I suspect, we just didn’t hear about them before. Joe was all about education and had zero tolerance but players came and left, but we didn’t always know why.
That’s not disagreeing. No one said there weren’t problems. The statement was we were different. That is undeniable unless you’re one of the jealous Joe-haters.

Earned a varsity letter at PSU, sparky. I'll give you credit for consistency, however. Every time you swing, you miss. Just like Bill O'Brien, when he coached the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I.

Here's a video of Bushwood Kasparaitis, instructing you on how to wear a jockstrap, just like him ...

LOSER! We’re not counting letters in band, Thurston.

How do you know that Franklin does not have sexual assault education presentations? I would be willing to bet that he has very good speakers address his players on the subject.

The thing that everyone forgets about major college football players is that they have been coddled and pampered and told how great they are from pop warner age and up. Many of them have been cut breaks for inappropriate behavior, lectured but without consequences more than once. After a while they come to believe they can do no wrong.

Coaches can lecture till they are blue in the face, but in the end it comes down to individual character and responsibility.

I suspect there probably was some amount of programming in place, despite the exasperated response from my detractors, and bravo to the staff if so. And now that the shit is hitting the fan after 3+ months of speculation that this was coming, it's a good time to amp that messaging up a bit.

And someone from the media is going to ask about it, so some coaching on how to handle those questions would probably also be a good idea for everyone associated with the team.

Wait...so now Franklin (or any coach) is responsible if a player tells a girl he plays football in an attempt to get laid? Lol
I know it's not everyone hear but the coach isn't responsible for what the guys do off the field. Suspend them. Kick them off the team. It's only an issue if a coach keeps a guy and the mistakes get worse.

Keep running your mouth, Thurston. No one’s listening to your nonsense. Time for user name 11.

Deviant preverted fan base and program, recruiting thug individuals all mastered by a preverted coach with a history of similar behavior. Is that not what we would be saying if it were ANY other program?

Come on, don't hold back. Think of it happening at Iowa, MI, OSU, USC.... Focus that hate like we have done so many times before.

This is obviously a black mark on Franklin's record here. He is accountable for all things that go on within the program. I understand it is difficult to control or be responsible for 100 football players and he can't be their babysitter but that doesn't get him off the hook.

You also have to look at Allen since these guys were on defense and the position coaches. What was missed if anything through their previous behavior? Were they good kids who made terrible decisions or were they "bad apples"?

We will wait for all the evidence and facts to come forward but this does not look good.

As for Joe and off field issues. He had them as well. The Chisley situation was horrible obviously, but not sure he had many major off the field issues back in the 70's and 80's when he was younger. Maybe he did and it was just kept quiet, who knows. Also, a different generation of players 40 years ago versus today.

Kerry Collins: Elite professional athlete. Living the dream in Tennessee with his beautiful family after his accolade filled football career.

Perfect Pitch: Anonymous loser boasting about his faux accomplishments on an internet message board while simultaneously disparaging everyone who actually does achieve their life’s dreams.

Interesting psychology case study.

This is your second time trying to respond to a single post. And you failed again. Third time's a charm. Give it another go.
