Did anyone notice that after MI scored a TD to pull within 2, the player that scored the TD got in the face of an IU defender in the endzone and began screaming at him.

The announcer made no comment but the flag indicator showed up for infraction in the endzone, apparently after the play.

An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at that juncture of the game would have prevented UM from having a realistic chance at a 2 point conversion to tie score.

The Ref announced that there was no flag on the play and provided no further explanation. The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is conjecture on my part based on what I observed.

Anyone else remember this play? I'd be interested in your opinions if you did.

I do. I was at the game. Both the runner, and even more so, the lead blocker, Bredeson, were both mouthing off in the endzone. I’ve watched UM and OSU get breaks for 50 years. No surprise.
I specifically watch for calls like that when OSU or UM are playing another B1G opponent.

I have observed calls like that happen way too often to their benefit since we've joined this conference. I had actually thought that the frequency of these calls were subsiding but I've noticed an uptick again this year.

They never questioned on the broadcast what the penalty flag was for or the location of the flag. The behavior of the UM player was way more egregious than our players getting a taunting penalty for giving his mom a ball that he had intercepted and returned for a TD or our player briefly stepping over a player that he just tackled and returning to our sideline.

This happened to us in our loss to OSU.

I am glad that UM missed the 2 point conversion so that there was no further consequences for IU from that call.

I was watching the game-Bredeson was acting like a total jackass and should have been called for a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (15 yards) and he was, but the main Big10 office called in and said to pick it up no doubt. So blatant for UM and OSU.

I’m not sure I’ve ever believed in a conspiracy, but maybe unconscious bias perhaps? Indiana beating Michigan this year would by far be the preferred outcome for the league. Michigan’s season was over weeks ago and Indiana winning keeps them very much in control for a playoff spot.

But that should have been a flag. Egregious unsportsmanlike!
