One of the hottest takes I have, I think the Heil robbery mentally broke Jimmy. He was struggling that year but seemingly was finally on a roll, starting with a comeback win at Carver against Carton and then he had Heil stacked (or under the new rules, at least they were takedowns since Heil lets go) but it wasn't called.I remember early in his career after a close win against a not so good kid that the coaches had to take him aside and console him - he was visibly upset (crying). I thought then that he was having trouble with the fact that he wasn’t just going to kill everyone like in HS.
But he was a good kid and had some big wins - including beating Dean Heil but getting that stolen from him
Pretty sure 5:00…8:00 EasternAnyone have a time for the cadet finals starting?
Let's just say I need more convincing they have figured the recruiting game out. Jesuroga, Kueter and Arnold are the 3 guys in the fold I would consider blue chips. Two are in state and one of those is shared with football. They need another 4 blue chips minimum between the 24 and 25 classes and I don't see anyone else in Iowa at that level. They have a lot of work to do.You guys will continue to recruit blue chippers to fill the spots so I don't get the pessimism. A lot of the kids we both want are just not committing right now. Sealey for example, he's technically not even allowed to be contacted yet by coaches, he's a sophomore in high school.
Losing Henson his junior and senior year (I imagine he'll be able to mat wrestle by then lol) for 2 years of Woods does hurt a bit for long term but I won't pretend it's a bad trade, I'd make that one.
No, no, no! Iowa does things "The Iowa Way" and here I am screaming, please continue on! Don't tell them they may be off center, someday they may stop to listen. Allow the march to continue. Iowa busting ass trying to scrape together enough points to finish 3rd or 4th is pleasing to me.As much as we've made fun of Spiker, his assertion that TnT make kids hate wrestling might have some truth to it. At the very least one has to question why so few former Hawks are continuing their career after graduation.
From what I can tell Lugo and Gilman are the only 2 right now, and Gilman openly admits coming to NLWC resurrected his career.
I guess we'll see about the recent grads, but after 5+ years in that room, they are pretty beat up. Even Gable seems to be questioning their training techniques.
Iowa still hasn't figured out "work smarter, not harder". Not sure they ever will with the current leadership. No, no, no! Iowa does things "The Iowa Way" and here I am screaming, please continue on! Just be glad it wasn't That's What All Thought. The phrase you're looking for is: Thank you Craig!
That’s what happens when your coach deemphasizes freestyle wrestling to the benefit of his NCAA coaching career.
Just imagine a world where a kid is a 3 time world champion before he starts college and then all but gives up wrestling freesty
That is ScaryBo looking like he could suck down to 79kg.
As I recall (and my memory isn't perfect) Clark & Gulibon wrestled twice in the all-star matches after HS graduation, and Gulibon won both times. The first time it wasn't too close, but the 2nd one (Iowa all-stars vs US) it was pretty close. And Gulibon did get that memorable win over Clark at Rec Hall with the late match TD that brought down the house! Your post, CT, brought back some memories. From the Outer Circle:
“I really like Riggens and his ability to get to the legs. Haines is very tough but I’m not sure it’s a gap that can’t be closed once Riggens gets into the room. Didn’t Clark get waxed by Guilibon in high school?”
Problem with theory - Riggins is bigger than a Jockey and the Hawks have struggled developing regular sized humans
Memory isn't bad, but the late TD brought the BJC roof down. Iowa, which isn't known for wrestling in State College, hasn't wrestled in Rec Hall since January 2011.As I recall (and my memory isn't perfect) Clark & Gulibon wrestled twice in the all-star matches after HS graduation, and Gulibon won both times. He is WAY ahead of schedule if only the first time wrestling Carter was brutal.Alec Facundo 2020 74kg Freestyle Junior Champion Interview. Very funny, said first time wrestling Carter was brutal.

No thanks. I quit watching the History channel years ago.If you haven't done so already, watch
Tom basically flips the bird to anyone who thinks he/they should change.
Did they stop making Unidirectional microphones? This interview was brutal.
Still shots don't always explain everything but watching it live I felt like it could of went VJ way. Damn close
Yeah it wasn’t 1 for me. Was part of McFadden’s move that took them OB.Still shots don't always explain everything but watching it live I felt like it could of went VJ way. Damn close
Yeah he didn't take a committed shot.Lilledahl putting it on Bassett a bit. Interesting to see how Bassett deals with kids he can’t bully. Knox stood in there and now Lilledahl.
I'll rematch it tomorrow. Did VJ coaches challenge that exchange? I know they challenged the last scoring sequenceYeah it wasn’t 1 for me. Was part of McFadden’s move that took them OB.
Plus McCort duo got pounded, Bassett lost 6-1 to Lilledahl and Forrest 12-2 to Jesuroga.Ugly first round of finals for those with PSU or potential PSU ties as Perry, Kasak and Neves lose and the latter seems to get injured.
Surprising BMC only has 2 in the finals to begin withPlus McCort duo got pounded, Bassett lost 6-1 to Lilledahl and Forrest 12-2 to Jesuroga.
Bounce back not good. Teched in the first.Yeah he didn't take a committed shot.
His bounce back will be interesting
Yeah 1:20....walked right into the dump. Fell down for the final td.Bounce back not good. Teched in the first.
We can probably hold off on the Spencer Lee comparisonsDominated
Or, strengthen them? Remember when Spencer failed to make the cadet team? Maybe Basset can move up to 50kg juniors? We can probably hold off on the Spencer Lee comparisons
