USA/Russia Rosters for the Yarygin

Looks like Zain's gonna have to beat Stieber again to keep his slot on the world team. Figured w/ the weigh-in changes that might happen, unless Zain goes up too.

I cant see Zain jumping to 70kg from 65kg if it’s just a one-time weigh in.

Tank, Green, Nolf at 70kg ... that’s already a crowd.

Zain can hang right with Streibler, especially once he focused solely on FS.

Sure Zain can hang. Almost beat him at Olympic Trials. Speaking of crowds, I sure hope the IOC gets cozy with these weights...

The real question is, just how long of a bus ride is it to Siberia?

So Cory Clark goes, I'll be interested to see how his game translates. Not sure what to make of the two Princeton recruits going, hopefully they return with their limbs intact.
Stefanik is in Russia training anyway.

Who do you guys think wins the 86kg spot in 2020, Nickal or DT? My money's on Nickal because DT will be pushing 30 and I think he'll be just past his prime whereas Nickal will just be pretty much fresh out of college at his peak.

I think Nickal will have a lot of ground to cover (adding some meat to those noodles, among other things) to get there--it's possible, but DT is on a mission, and I think he gets a shot at his dream.

My understanding (which could be wrong) is the changes will mean each weight class is done over 2 days so you have to weigh in both days but with a 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) allowance on the second day.

Yes, great experience for him.

Can't help but think if this was a PSU wrestler, our friend Vodka would single-handedly revive the US postal system and Larry Lee's binder would grow an inch or two.

My understanding is that the Yarygin is now a point earning tournament (points for seeding at Worlds). As such, there are limits as to how many wrestlers from the same country can compete at a given weight. Seems like the limit is 3 per country but Russia will be able to enter 5 per weight (not sure why). In the past, the brackets were full of Russians (15-20 per weight).

Bump
