You have got to be joking, yes? Let's have a little fun with this, shall we?

I believe once Louis Freeh finishes his investigation for USC here's how he'll conclude:

I hereby conclude that then Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno knew about this type of behavior going on there dating back to 1968. Even though this was a basketball issue taking place on the other side of the country, Paterno HAD TO KNOW this was going on because, well, HE KNEW EVERYTHING! Though offering up zero sources for his information and vetting no one, Freeh explains that a young, talented, yet somewhat illiterate running back named Oranthal says he was offered a boat-load of money by boosters and other program supporters, etc. Even though Oranthal was a football player and not a basketball player, Freeh determined this valuable information was close enough to the situation to be deemed valid. Taken aback by the large sums of cash being stuffed into his white Ford Bronco, Oranthal, while scratching his chin with a bloody knife while wearing over-tight gloves, truly believed this was an unethical act that he should not take part in. So...he thought deeply about what he should do....instead of flatly turning down the cash, telling his parents, alerting HIS coaches or athletic directors or even, perhaps, revealing this attempted fraud to the FBI, Oranthal, instead, decided the best thing to do was to call the man who oversaw everything: Paterno.

According to Freeh, this is how the phone call went:

Oranthal placed the call to the Lasch building and, per his usual see-and-know-everything behavior, coach Paterno picked up on the first ring!

Paterno: "This better be about FOOTBALL!"

"Coach I really need your help," Oranthal pleaded.

"Don't bother me, dammit." Paterno yelled. "Don't you know I have a highly-successful, nationally-renowned football program to run? All I care about is FOOTBALL!"

Oranthal: "But coach or Joe or coach or...whatever it is you go by (edit: Freeh says it's "coach" because it fits the narrative) I called you because everybody says you know everything and can see what is going on all the time, not only at your university, but globally. They say you know who shot JFK and who really let the dogs out! So I need your help! Something very unethical, wrong and criminal is going on here at USC and I am involved and I need your advice!"

Paterno: "Yeah, that's right! I do know everything! Jeez, kid, you are as pushy as Tony Saccer! But I can't help you. Don't you know that all I care about is football? Football dammit!! So here's my advice, Morganthal. Besides me, you tell as many people as you can that are close to you...people you absolutely can trust...and once you've delivered your message to them as precisely as possible...TELL THEM TO HELP YOU COVER UP THE WHOLE STORY!! It's as simple as that kid...no one will ever be the wiser and who knows...you'll go on to have a terrific career and perhaps, one day they will build a statue of you on campus and your "squeaky-clean" university will continue to enjoy a lack of bad publicity."

Oranthal: "But coach...or...or coach Joe....do you really think..."

Paterno: "Football dammit! I have talked long enough about this. At Penn State our focus...no...our 'culture' is purely football...stop trying to be so ethical and right!!"

Oranthal: "But...."

Paterno: "FOOOOOTBALLLLLLL! FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL.....DAMMIT!!! Gotta go....Reggie Bush and Pete Carroll are on lines 1 and 2..."

Later on...Freeh will say he is transparent and VERY open to discussing his findings. Then.....much later...he will say the whole thing was just his opinion...then he will ride off into the devil's sunset with another stash of cash tainted with another set of lies that will probably ruin lives or at least reputations and.... one person's LEGACY.

The fact that people still hire Freeh just boggles my mind...unreal...we live in an upside down world...what's wrong is reported as right...and what's right gets completely ignored...have a good night!!
