Wade is a Warrior!

Last Saturday was the first time he played like a 5-star recruit should play. He had a great game. He is still slow and short so I hope he doesn't have NFL aspirations.

If we had won the game, we're talking about one of the all-time great defensive performances by a PSU player.

10 tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.

He's also turned into a hell of a leader. I know he's rumored to be leaving for the pros - he'll have a degree, needs to support a kid - but it would be huge if he came back for another year after breaking out this season.

I realize its a different era, and these kids can't afford to pass up money now, but a case could be made that another year would benefit all of these guys that are considering leaving early.

NFL at this point means the whole undrafted free agent route so I hope he stays one more year where he could get better as a player and have a chance at all-Big Ten recognition. And then in 2021 he could maybe hope to be a first-day draft pick which gives him a much better shot at actually playing NFL football.

But I'm so happy for him. He's a great example of how things don't always go your way as a top recruit and you have to be patient and keep plugging and then someday you wake up and realize you have really made it as a college football player.

This should be a great example for players like Shorter who are going to be really good but it's just going to take longer than people expected. Football is a really hard game and it takes time.

If he will have his degree, he should probably leave. No player should be criticized for this. Football is a risky sport.
He has been a pleasant surprise this season.

Would he get drafted if went pro this year? He could use another year in college.

Exactly what I just said in another post. Hell no, we couldn't just compliment him without a nice little stab. They've said the same thing about dozens of players. Troy Apke comes to mind. Lol.
Although I'm sure LemonEars is renowned in NFL circles for his ability to recognize talent, so who are we to second guess him? :) Great point about Apke - dude is sitting back collecting an NFL check hopefully laughing at those who said he had no chance.

He does, and I think this game will give him some looks, but he still needs to play his senior year and have a big year next year.

No. He isn't NFL material. Maybe he will replace his dad as coach at Clairton.
He might stick as a special teams ace and secondary reserve. Most teams have several guys that primarily play special teams and are only expected to play as a last resort. I had a college teammate play nearly a decade in the NFL in such a role, and he wasn’t as athletic as Wade. I hope it works out for him as he matured a ton this past year.

I hope he gets a look by the NFL and sticks with a team. I think many teams will look down their noses at him because of his height and raw speed. Hope I'm wrong.
