We are #16?? Tailgating-wise???

It has definitely gone downhill since they've implemented all of the changes to parking over the last two decades. I remember as a kid in the 1990s looking over the railing of Beaver Stadium and seeing a never-ending sea of tailgates. They were packed so close together and it was just crazy.
Now when you look at the landscape you see patches of tailgates and half-filled parking lots. Not that there's fewer tailgaters, PSU has just compartmentalized and spread out all of the tailgates. A giant chunk that used to be at the stadium decades ago is now in friggin Centre Hall at the Grange Fair. PSU fans tailgate hard, but this setup makes it look like it's not as impressive as in the past.
