Awesome....never heard of it before. I might have to give it a try. How is it?
I like it. There are several companies out there (Ryze, Every Day dose, Mud WTR, etc). Most are roughly half freeze dried coffee, half mushrooms.
I kept getting social media ads for Ryze. I had been drinking too much coffee - by my 3rd cup, I'd start to feel bad...but I was frankly addicted to the habit, if not the caffeine. I like focusing on holistic health(I love chiropractic), so I gave it a try.
I started with Ryze. It has a bunch of different mushroom varieties. It's a bit earthy, but I dressed it the same as I do coffee (cream + sugar) and I didn't mind it at all. It would get sediment on the bottom if left to stand. Not sure it matters, but they use
myceliated oats vs the fruiting body of the mushroom. Cost is about $30/month for 30 servings.
So I switched to EveryDay Dose(EDD). It only uses two types of mushrooms, but uses the fruiting body (ie the mushroom you eat) and it is ground very fine and doesn't settle once mixed with water. EDD is less earthy than Ryze, but is a couple bucks a month more expensive ($36/mos). They do give you a free gift each month to start out, which are useful (frother, travel mug, container to store coffee, 5 travel packs).
All of these claim that mushrooms provide longer lasting energy/alertness (maybe 5 hours) without the crash of coffee after ~90mins. They claim to improve gut health which positively affects the immune system along with some other benefits.
I can confirm, that my already efficient GI system became more efficient with mushroom coffee. Many people report less bloating due to this. I generally drink one cup of EDD in the morning and I don't feel like a need more and I don't feel like I'm dragging during the work day (I do occasionally get a coffee in the afternoon, but it's more of a treat vs feeling like I need it). I've generally been a healthy person, but age is catching up a bit in my late 40s. My impression is that I generally feel better and I didn't get sick at all over the winter. Take it FWIW.
Overall, I'm very happy and have no plans to stop using it. Happy to answer addl questions.
