We probably weren't going to go from a team that never makes the playoffs to winning the entire thing, I was hoping for improvement this year, never thought this was a championship roster. I think there is a lot to be encouraged about, just a few off the top of my head:

  • The O-Line seems to really be rounding into form and played their best ball at the end of the season against the best teams.
  • Nick and Kaytron, pray they come back, got back into their freshman form, of course, a lot of that has to do with bullet one
  • Although still disappointing in the big game, I think Drew got better this year, he improved.
  • Considering we lost Winston and gave up yards through the year, I thought our defense was very solid mostly. Even our perceived weaknesses at LB improved as the year went on. I think Rojas was better 2nd half of the year.
  • We found a kicker that was mostly reliable, which was an improvement.
  • Even Franklin seemed a little sharper on game days, still can be a buffoon.
  • With Kraft, the new stadium upgrades, and maybe further commitments with NIL, we can keep building to a championship.
We played a lot of football, seems like it was years ago we played Oregon in the Big Ten Championship. Tons of experience gained. Stinks falling short this year, but I was mostly encouraged. Big step not loosing a cheap game on the schedule this year, something a lot of teams can't say including the vaunted SEC.

We haven’t lost a cheap game since 2021. That step has been long since taken.

Yesterday might be the cheapest loss in the last 3 years actually, not counting the opt out fest peach bowl. I think Oregon and those michigan osu teams are all better than this notre dame team.

He could have made that same post most years since 2019.

But at least then we had one or more serviceable WRs.

I’d say we are in about the same position as we’re were 5 years ago.

We are better in one regard, one year closer to Franklin being out of here.

Hopefully Florida will make their play and move up the time table. He’s got his plunder - time to go.

Then Krafty can earn his pay.

Man, you're certainly entitled to this opinion and I've shared it at times, but Franklin and the team seem like they overperformed this year mostly.

Because there were no blowouts?

If this was overperforming, what would "performing" have looked like? 9-3 and the reliaquest bowl?

Yes, it was a good year for the nits and I so appreciate following the team even if it's so frustrating at times because rarely are they humming on all cylinders. Alot of talent is expected to return but now we have to brace for the departs to the NFL and portal. I expect one of the RBs to remain and hope DDS and KK stay as they could really be great in 2025. The pieces are there for another run if they can weather the departures.

Largely agree. Our O-line improvement will make us competitive for several years to come. There development and depth are substantial. The kicker is solid, if not good…and that’s an improvement.— It would be awesome to have Nick and Kaytron back. They , along with a top 10 O-line, would resemble last years bulldozer Michigan team….I think Nick may leave, however. — Our much maligned WR’s have clearly improved . They were at least adequate to good most of the season…they need to be consistently very good next year. —Allar made significant improvements from last year….he needs to continue, if he wants to be great. His consistency, form/delivery and decision making need to improve. But, overall, a really good year for him. —We are polluted with elite TE’s, and we should utilize them next year. We could have as many as 4 on the field, and be an absolute nightmare package. —Need to reload at defense, and Hope Winston stays. Should be good again, but need to be great.

It's not that they lost a "big game" last night they pisses me off. It's HOW AND WHY they lost that pisses me off. They had ONE JOB to do in the office season that EVERYONE talked about all spring: blow up the cancerous receivers room, replace the incompetent coach, and fill the needs in the portal. They did absolutely jack shit. They brought back the incompetent coach, brought back everything but the head case KLS and the two division one backup level wrs, and brought nothing in, other than a shot out receiver that Ohio State discarded, and brought him in to be a glorified blocker.

As it turned out, the glorified blocker was the only positive thing that room brought, as it fielded perhaps the worst P4 wr room in all of football, but the glorified blocker made a couple circus catches to save the season. There was absolutely, positively, no excuse for the staff to fail at every level in the area which had BEEN IDENTIFIED as the only factor that would hold it back from perhaps a great season.

Instead, they had perhaps a miracle season in that they somehow made it to the college football playoff semi final with one of the worst wide receiver rooms and coaches in country.

What hurts the most is that if they would have done what everyone said they needed to do, this team is playing Ohio State on the 20th for a national championship game that is a toss up.

Instead we sit home and now the narrative of a coach that can't win big games, is a mountain that will never be climbed. The book is closed.

We are, basically, Georgia/ Richt, Clemson/pre Dabo, ND/Kelly, Oklahoma/Stoops, and folks, it's not going to get better

And you are too. Just curious, what games would those have been? Bowling Green? Minnesota? Notre Dame? Oregon?

Bingo…and it’s no narrative. It is a fact with 10+ season of examples.

I'm not interested in a pissing match to be honest, but watching our O line maul Oregon and Notre Dame seems like a major improvement to me.

We did get better and I'm fairly pleased though disappointed about the Orange Bowl. Some of my PS friends are really hurting today. But all things pass.

I am happy for what the team did this year! Did it end the way any PSU fan wanted?? Hell, no!
The team was missing ONE stud WR from being a national champion. I expect PSU to be in the same position next year.

Let’s have a great off season and come back even better!

You will no longer hurt when you get your mind right. I hope to win but expect to lose under Franklin. At the end of the day I don’t get that bothered anymore. I’ve been conditioned to lose big games.

We may have won last night with KLS.

Funny how exceeding expectations just raise expectations.

Preseason talk all summer here was ‘We might finally make the playoffs!’ because of the expansion.

Mid season the talk was still about making the playoffs…..would a two loss get us in? Is even a three loss playoff team possible ?

Then we shock everyone and get into the CCG against the #1 team in the country. True underdogs.

But play well with a good shot of winning. Raised hopes and expectations again.

Get in playoffs with a sweet bracket. Then we raise expectations to where we have to win not just one playoff game but two to break the Big Game James myth. We do that with relative ease.

So now the expectations were we have to win and get in title game. Anything short means the season was a disappointment and FIRE EVERYBODY!!! Is the mantra.

It is what it is🤷🏿‍♂️

Actually this is an excellent take. Right on man

Don’t sound so surprised that I am capable of excellence!🧐
I am having trouble accepting that 99 percent of us with the exception of some idiot (no bare feet), are all in agreement that Hagans needs to go and that room needs blown up. Usually we are all in here at each other's throats but I guess it took this ridiculous absurd zero wr catch game to all agree on something. Christ even Loado is agreeing 😂

So now my ego got carried away and I started a new thread with it! 😻
