We took 19 seconds off the clock. Incredible idiocy.

Why three pass plays that were all incompletions and stopped the clock giving Indiana all the more time, which they used to good advantage? Even the announcers couldn't make an excuse for it.

It's becoming obvious that Franklin doesn't have a good grasp on game management. Too many really idiotic calls. It's great you can recruit 4.5 start talent, but here's the thing, what good is it if you coach at a 2.5 level?

The second one was a completed screen pass. Probably accounted for most of the whopping 19 seconds taken off the clock.

How incredibly stupid was that?
Snapping the ball with 20 or 25 seconds. They almost blew the game. Just so screwed up. As foolish a series of play calls ever.

Agree calling 3 consecutive passes was highly questionable, but please remember that following an incompletion the game clock stops making it irrelevant how quickly they snap the ball.

Special teams is a goat rodeo, too. Even the punting looks shaky. 3 dropped kicks, a blocked Extra point, and a botched insides kick. That’s three that have been listed this year. Great return by Thomas which was so unexpected. Thank god Indiana is Indiana.

A botched onside kick too. I've never seen an insides kick before. Just busting your chops.

One was a completion for a loss to Miles Sanders, but yes, it was 3 passes. The thinking was bad on that

I love this stuff. After last two games posters where asking why we were running. We should be trying to make first downs and running our offense.

I don’t post much in game day threads cause it’s nuts

But you are comparing two different situations -we were up by two scores this time - not one

19 second drive was horrible not only cause it was 19 seconds but it also only took ONE timeout from Indiana

That doesn’t make any sense. It’s more important to bleed time up only one score

I meant the play calling choices

They could have ran it three times and taken up 19 seconds but also forced IU to use ALL three time outs. - instead of throwing

The last two games I felt like they should have ran the regular offense and they keeled up

True. We did that more so on the previous drive when Trace ran out of bounds after a big run The clock would have started immediately after the marker was set with about 7:30 left on the clock. We just make some really insane choices.

I don't know whether or not Franklin is considered to be a "players' coach" but sometimes a coach needs to step up and bust some figurative heads during practice. That needs to be done this week to help the team regain focus and intensity. There were too many times when they looked clueless and soft. And also make it clear that nobody is above being benched for poor performance.

Maybe Franklin was trying to step on their throats....you know, one of the other things Franklin gets criticized for not doing?

Right. We needed to play in a way that forced that final TO.

I really think they were trying to let Trace continue the passing TD streak. They new the streak was coming to an end and thought the game was more or less over.
I thought the same maybe TM saying give me a shot at it, but overall it was stupid end of game management.

How in the world do you figure that? Up one, it's crucial to pick up first downs. Running the clock doesn't mean much if you give it back with even just two minutes because that's plenty of time to score in the college game. Up two, the other team needs a lot more time.

Fans: THEY NEED TO NOT RUN THE BALL TO CLOSE OUT A GAME. HOW STUPID. THEY NEED TO BE AGGRESSIVE AND THROW THE BALL.

*Penn State throws the ball to try and close out the game*

Fans: HOW STUPID. THEY NEED TO RUN THE BALL TO BURN CLOCK AT THE END OF THE GAME. DUMB.

You people are morons.

Recruiting has been great at many positions but I don't think so great at LB and DT.
That’s putting it kindly. Both positions have also suffered “unnatural attrition.” The losses at DT have been unreal.
