The corner table at the Skellar
It's been a cold week here in the northeast US. I had to be out at some job sites, and it was not fun. Actually had to cancel a day due to machinery not working.

So, with that in mind, my theme for the jukebox is.....Songs that make me think of summer and/or warm weather....

As always, this is my theme, and you are welcome to post what you like.

Start with a classic....

From Woodstock, August 1969....

This song always makes me think of Summer 1978....

...and on a slightly softer note....and when I fell for Jennifer O'Neill....

Magic by the Cars

Summertime by Janice Joplin

Teenage Dreams Kati Perry

Ain't Even Done with the Night John Mallencamp (one of the more underrated all time songs IMHO)

Too damn early for weekend jukebox

;)

Just to stretch your mind....theme from the Movie "Summer of 42"

Here's one by a band that defined the California summer sound, the Beach Boys, and with the word "summer" in the title to boot. This song is 55 years old but still sounds fresh today. BTW, who the heck else was using a xylophone in popular music in 1964?

XTC's "Skylarking" is the only cassette I ever bought three copies of. I bought one and it melted in the summer heat on the dashboard of my car. I bought another and lost it. And then I bought a third one. And then I found the one I lost and I had two working cassettes. It's a great album and yes, it has a very summer sound to it, both musically and lyrically.

It was one of the very first CD's I ever bought. The other was I Robot and then I got the first release of The Beatles Sgt. Peppers album.
IIRC, the CD dropped on the anniversary of the album release.
I know what you mean about buying copies. I have a Vinyl pressing, Cassette, CD, and now Movie DVD of Stop Making Sense.
And I listen to them and still watch the concert. Best Concert album ever.
