Average
Week 4 of the Average. A reminder that a wrestler must appear in half of the rankings to appear in the Average. Rasheed appears in 4 of the 8, so he appears at 174. Morelli appears in 3 of the 8, so he does not appear at 174. Also, as the computer generated rankings often are more inaccurate (or whatever you'd like to call it) at the beginning of the season, I'll indicate the Average without and with the computer generated rankings. The two averages are not all that different at this point.
Without Computer Generated Included
125: Suriano - 4th (4th)
133: Cortez - 16th (17th)
141: Gulibon - 14th (15th)
149: Zain - 1st (1st)

Just noticed something exciting (to me anyway, small brain, easily amu... SQUIRREL!!!) that you have all probably noticed. All the other wrestlers ranked in the top 5 with Suriano are seniors. Gilman, Dance, Peters, and JoshRod. The highest ranked returnee will be Darian Cruz. I'm guessing Spencer Lee will shirt next year amidst an Iowa reset. No idea when and where Fix fits into the Cowboys plan. High times.

I'm not sure Spencer Lee redshirts. My guess is that he won't.

Iowa loses Clark, Gilman, Brooks, Meyer and Carton. That's a lot of firepower to replace. I'll be shocked if Lee goes. But, I won't be shocked if Teasdale goes the following year. Assuming he makes it to Iowa.
Cowboys lose Collica, Crutchmer, Boyd, J. Rogers, and Schafer. May be a good reset year. Let Heil finish up so they can fit Nick Picc, Kaid Brock, and Daton Fix at the lower three weights. G-Feller and Lewallen would round out a formidable top half.

Tomasello, BoJo, and Snyder will all be seniors next year, as will Zain. Good year to avoid. Let PSU and Ohio State battle it out and sit on the sidelines with Missouri and Nebraska.

Interesting data...using InterMat's 12/20 Rankings, here's what theoretical Team Points (Placement & Advancement) are gone in 2017-18;

Row Labels Sum of Pts
Iowa 52
Cornell 46.5
Missouri 39
Nebraska 38.5
Oklahoma State 33.5
Virginia Tech 31
Wisconsin 29.5
Lehigh 26
Minnesota 25
Illinois 18

What's interesting is that the top-10 teams (those listed above), are 10 of the top-12 teams in InterMat's current Tournament Rankings. Ohio State (losing no one in 2017-18), and PSU (losing 1 senior) certainly look to easily be the top-2 next year...but that's a long way off, and lots can happen.

Roar... which B1G teams do we not wrestle next year?

Are you serious, pa? I thought it rather clever. Now I'm not sure what to think.

Hey, you never know, maybe next time he'll change his Twitter bio for an entire 3 or 4 hours before HR erupts and somebody panic tweets at him.

Barring injury, next year we should start the season with FOUR wrestlers ranked #1 at their weight: Suriano, Retherford, Nolf and Nickal. And though Hall won't be ranked #1 to start the season, he will essentially be a #1 talent at 174. Not too shabby.

Methinks we have top fours in Joseph, Hall, and Nevills. That's 7 of the ten. Mouse should make the quarters, Cortez Round of 12, and who knows what at 141.

Yes, can't wait to see if Nick Lee goes next year at 41. Three of the six wrestlers above Nevills in Internmat rankings are seniors.

With the amazing firepower up and down the lineup, I'm guessing they would redshirt Lee and let Kade Moss have a season to start at 41. I'd also make a wild guess that Moss would be in the 10-14 range at 41 next year.

you never know, Rutgers may put in a new pool for water dodge ball to entice transfers:eek:

There is a very wide range in the rankings on Cutch. Where do people think he really stands right now at 97? Maybe 8 or 9?

Hard to say Chris. Small sample size at 197, no top ten opponents, and a mixed bag of results wrestling through injury at 184. He faces Brett Pfarr and Aaron Studebaker in our first weekend back. The former may not be informative but the latter match could answer your question. Mouse also faces Ricky Robertson and Kollin Moore later in the season. Beating Moore would be huge.

4-6 depending upon seed. Behind Cox, Pfarr, and probably Haught. Not sure about Moore or Harner. He can take the rest of the field.

The Nebraska dual will only tell us how badly Mouse will win a rematch. If this were baseball, Studebaker would be destined for the bullpen -- he gets worse the 2nd and 3rd time against each opponent.

Let's take it easy on the Teasdale talk...from what I hear, he is already up to 160 pounds, and will plan on starting his Hawkeye career at 184.

Good call - He's also pinning Sammy Brooks w regularity.

He's certainly wrestling above 120

And who knows if Kyle Snyder will stick around. If he is serious about wanting to be in the UFC before the 2020 Olympics, then he has to get a move on. If he waits until he graduates, 2 years may not be enough time to be in the UFC.
