weinstein surrenders to police

why didn't they cuff him? a proper perp walk requires handcuffs

How comfortable will they make him during the interrogation?

"Thank you for coming in today, mr. weinstein. We know this is an inconvenience, and we are sorry for that. Don't worry. This will be painless. Before we start, can I offer you tea and strumpets? Also, how is the room temperature? Is this chair comfortable for you?"

Strumpets are exactly what the guys wants. Had he stuck to strumpets, he wouldn’t be in this mess.

For now, the me too movement is working, BUT....there is a chance that the slippery slope has begun. What did Morgan Freeman do again? He made comments, right? Comments. Ok, that's rude, but is that equal to Harvey?
How about Louis CK? He gets a pass while Harvey does the same thing and gets lambasted? Where are the lines drawn? As Ty Webb said in Caddyshack, "Can I get a ruling, here?" What, is what, exactly? Where are we heading...."Officer, he was LOOKING at my boobs, I have it on my cell phone video..."

Jeffrey Tambor can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Not sure what Netflix was thinking after he got canned by Hulu.

If ANYONE would believe Harvey was God, it would be Mira: He had her banned, shunned, and black listed, because she refused him. And that's WITH Paul Sorvino as her father. He had that much power.

Still, Harvey's power pales next to David Geffen, and David Geffen will be the final shoe to drop, as soon as someone gets the gumption to out him for the monster he is. It won't be that little coward Feldman though.

i think the issue is that this has evolved to a single category of crime. it appears that HW is being charged criminally with rape. i assume that rape means he had the victim pinned to a wall, the ground, etc and forcibly had sex with her against her will. a sexual assualt is just short of the rape definition, but would certainly involve physical force.

what appears to be happening is that comments that offend someone are now considered sexual assault. there is no gradient to the crimes.

i have a hard time using the word "survivor" with any of these people. the word survivor should be reserved for someone who was near death or faced death (shot in a war, faced stage 4 cancer and lived, etc). portraying someone who "survived" an offensive comment by Morgan Freeman as some kind of hero is BS. just another for of BS victim hood = who eventually need to be compensated $$$$ for their victimhood.

I get what you're saying- making more of being offended than it is insults people who have suffered more than offense- like rape victims, or people who have had their careers sidetracked by one of these predators. We never seem to find a reasonable balance between not going far enough and going too far in dealing with issues like this.

Something tells me that if you were raped, your understanding would be improved. Same as if you were sexually assaulted. People who undergo that sort of soul destroying degradation often spend years fighting off the urge to kill themselves.

Would you call them survivors if they killed themselves? Not sure anyone gives a damn about your attempts to minimize their suffering.

I'm surprised Geffen/Singer haven't gone down yet. I think if the accusations of a few years ago came up in today's climate, they would've gained a lot more traction and more victims would've felt more comfortable coming forward.

Man to watch: Dan Schneider

Nickelodian likes making money, and he made them lots. They cut him loose for a reason.

There's also a reason why Amanda Bynes is a basket case.

I can get a little outraged (cue Bob) over casting couch activities w/ adult women, but if this blows up like many believe it will, there will be a special place in hell for this prick.

No tongs though for serving him and no individually wrapped drink stirrer

I'm more OUTRAGED. that I haven't been invited for these casting couch sessions with these adult women. That's a job I want.

We also need a definition of "victim shaming": Rose McGowan accepted $100,000 for her silence, and now, 20 years later, after her career has declined due to age(much like Ashley Judd), and with nothing to lose, has become vocal.

Is it "victim shaming" to ask, why Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd were silent for 20 years? It is not inaccurate to claim that they, in fact, did not speak out, either at the time, or at any time for a long period of time.

In the case of Sorvino, I can not only sympathize, but also be angered, that she was never GIVEN that chance, as Sorvino was indeed cast out by Hollywood at the order of Weinstein, but McGowan and Judd made no such intent public.

Interesting....I am sure Harvey is guilty and will go down...but he just produced an email string from one of his rape accusers where she is flirting with him up until Feb 8th 2017.

One of the emails -- written April 11, 2013 -- says, "I was able to talk to [redacted] today and will be connected with [redacted]. :) Thanks, and I hope to see you sooner thank (sic) later ..."

On April 17, the email reads, "It would be great to see you again, and catch up!"

Another email on Sept. 11, 2013 says ... "Miss you big guy."

In January 2014, she wrote, "Your the one who makes it look good with your smile and beautiful eyes!!"

And, on July 10, 2014, she emailed, "There's no one else I would enjoy catching up with that understands me quite like you."

And then there's this on Feburary 8, 2017 ... "I love you, always do. But I hate feeling like a booty call. :)."

Throughout the email chain over the years, they go back and forth talking about meeting up. At one point, she asks for a Soho House membership referral ... she wanted to be a member and use him to get in.

I agree. Strippers, prostitutes, drug addicts, runaways (some women are all four) more often
than not have been sexually assaulted/raped as a child or young teen. Frequently, the offender was a relative or family friend, someone who was trusted.

Some of these asshat men that diminish the lifetime of damage done to these women need to be bent over and see how that works out.

Nothing’s real until it’s personal.

And that includes being falsely accused of sexual assault. It's meaningless until it happens to you.

You answered your own question - McGowan accepted a settlement (and her career declined in part because she was a Miramax darling early on, was blacklisted by Weinstein, and was in a pretty bad car accident; she later dated Robert Rodriguez who has juice at Miramax/TWC and could get her work). I don't know Judd's reasoning - bottom line is everyone feared Weinstein. Asking why no one has spoken out until now I think is pointless - they're speaking now; doesn't diminish their stories at all.
