Well for the bowl game, Brooks and Smith have opted out. What were the circumstances that led King and Buddin into action?
Yep. Yet we will still have some fans act like their lives have been significantly impacted in an adverse way if we lose the bowl game. 🤦♂️Let's face it unless you are in the playoffs the rest of the bowl game are turning into another semi meaningless practice game. Hell we could have been in a bowl game last year but opted out. They are not what they use to be….
Personally I don’t see how it’s any more meaningless than every game on the schedule after you lose a couple division games. I understand the opt-outs, but to me it’s football, you want to play and you want to win.Yep. Yet we will still have some fans act like their lives have been significantly impacted in an adverse way if we lose the bowl game. 🤦♂️
This whole statement is completely, 100% false.Let's face it unless you are in the playoffs the rest of the bowl game are turning into another semi meaningless practice game. Hell we could have been in a bowl game last year but opted out. They are not what they use to be. The only real positive is you get some of the younger players some snaps.
I'd argue that the winning school gets $. It also seems to help with recruiting.Let's face it unless you are in the playoffs the rest of the bowl game are turning into another semi meaningless practice game. And the staff consistently comments that the practices are a very valuable developmental period for the younger players, especially players that may not be starters but will be counted on to be big contributors the next season. And that is in addition to, and complimentary to, the game experience that the young players may get, dramatically increased for some young players in the current environment with the opt out's.I'd argue that the winning school gets $. Sounds like PSU 2021 season football is basically over for a few on this board, so I don't understand why they are here complaining.... I mean posting....
Then why did we pass last year when we could have been in a bowl and even our record???
BTW, both schools win or lose get the same money.
Exactly. An unfortunate side effect of the National Championship is that if you aren’t in the tournament the rest of the bowls have become almost meaningless. I want to see the younger players get a chance to play and see what they can do.Sure getting a bowl game is important but the actual bowl game has morphed into an almost meaningless practice game from the fan prospective or at least my prospective. I like watching PSU FB games even the blowout in non conference play where you get to see some of the young talent at then end of the game. But under CJF I'm not going to get all that upset like I use to if we don't show up. It's a road game so I almost expect us not to show up on the field.
Agreed.too bad we don't have Lance Dixon any more

If we kept everyone we had, we wouldn't have many that we have.........too bad we don't have Lance Dixon any more
If we kept everyone we had, we wouldn't have many that we have.........
probably true but it'd be nice to have Dixon in the bowl game considering the opt outsIf we kept everyone we had, we wouldn't have many that we have.........
Well. During the season it was just WILL.Just LANCE. He could have helped out.
Franklin doesn't consider LB a "skill position"What were the circumstances that led King and Buddin into action?
The model is broken + coaches are walking out on their teams. Why should we expect anything different?Let's face it unless you are in the playoffs the rest of the bowl game are turning into another semi meaningless practice game. Smith is no loss. If he shoulder tackled one more time I may lose my mind.Well for the bowl game, Brooks and Smith have opted out.
