What are your thoughts about the possibility of bringing Kerry Collins in as QB coach?

No, this is not a rumor that I am starting, but only a thought. I know he had his past issues, but I think this would be a great fit for Penn State and Kerry Collins if it can be arranged!

What makes you think he would be a great coach? Just because a player has a good career doesn't mean he'll have one as a coach. Many players with lackluster careers went on to be great coaches.

Back when Zack Mills was a PSU quarterback, Kerry did come in during spring practice and work with the quarterback group. I saw a video segment of him working with the quarterbacks in the meeting room. He was breaking down tape and going over what reads they should see/make. Back then I was thinking how cool it would be if he would someday become the PSU quarterbacks coach.

I will note that he did make a donation that permanently endowed the QB position.

He seems to have been doing a huge amount of charity and community work thru the years. It may be that coaching is not on his to do list. IDK.

He does have the qualification that CJF spoke of. ;)

And what makes you believe that he wants to coach? And more importantly does he have the skills to be an effective coach? You comment just makes no sense!

Thank you, this is the response I was going to say as well. SHM at the OP

How about we ask Tom Brady to retire and come coach QBs at PSU. And afterwards when we play Michigan and win after Hackenberg, coached by him, throws 15 TD passes for 3,200 yards... he can proclaim his love for all things PSU.

How about that?

I mean it's just an idea.

Why? Penn St has somebody doing that already.

Guys, I don't get why you are being so sarcastic and rude to the original poster. First off....Kerry Collins has no interest in coaching. He is interested in making country music in Nashville unless something has changed. With that being said, the guy just threw out an idea on a boring saturday with no football. No reason to bash the guy!!!

No....to my knowledge Kerry has no interest in coaching. If he did, he would have already probably gotten into coaching at some level.

Not sure about that, but if you need some country music lessons - you might look him up.

I like when fans think that a former great player at PSU would automatically become a good coach. It makes me chuckle.

If KC wanted to be a coach, he would have done that already.

I don't think a high pressure program like PSU is the place for him to cut his teeth on coaching.

Thanks Nashville Lion. Good to see you back on the board again. Have a great day.
Appreciate that mn78psu83. It is good to be back on the board. Since the transition my mobile Rivals app will not allow me to post and reply. I can read the threads and posts but not reply. So, the only chance for me to comment is when I am home on my mac computer. Hope you are well buddy.

Actually we have a pretty sound QB coach who seems successful in recruiting as well. Forget it. We are in good hands

Rahne is a terrific QB coach and a top notch recruiter. We are in good hands.

Kerry is by far the best QB we have ever had, and certainly played in a variety of NFL offenses. He knows the game and position, and last I saw was one of the top 15 all time passers in NFL history. There have been videos where he was shown instructing hs and college QBs.

I don't know if that makes him a great coach, and if he was interested would already have been doing this in NFL.

I agree he wants to be on CMT - FB in rear view mirror for him

Nasville Lion: Thank you for coming to my defense. It's interesting how some posters just criticize others thoughts and thoughts. Welcome to internet boards I guess :)

A Great fit is whoever CJF wants as his QB coach. And he has his man.

When you start your own team, call Kerry and ask him if he is interested in a job.....

You are welcome buddy. Glad to do it. I don't like to see fellow Penn Staters be jerks to other Penn staters over trivial crap. Let's all have fun...it is a message board.
