What happened to Nevills......

He is not ready for prime time. He needs a year of strength training and needs to work on technique especially with his shots. He cannot win in college by hanging on to people and expecting To win.

Can we pin a thread for all the aggressive, staff sucks, guys suck hot takes.

Thread: if your hurt, mad, need to say something awful, hawk returning fire hot takes....POST here.

Like to see drop some weight, maybe down to 245-250 might make him quicker, also get in the weight room couldn't hurt.

I was concerned when he didn’t appear to move at first, seemed like more than a scrape. I was even more concerned when it appeared to buckle under him later in the third. He did not seem alright. I hope there is no injury, his brother sure had his share during his career at PSU.

I did not see match, but watching Seth a few times this year he seems limited from his feet to generate offense at the college level. He needs the match to be won on the mat.
We have to remember he's trying to fill a huge void and should of had a year of seasoning.
How he does at year tournaments will depend on his draws and wrestleback brackets. He will struggle against the athletic kids.
Speaking of the heavyweights, from what I saw of Stevenson this year I think I like Michigan Parris head to head. I think if you push Gable he will struggle in the 3rd.

Nevills should beat guys like Gas Tank Gary Traub, but in retrospect I think the in-match leg injury was a significant factor. It was definitely more than a scrape and Nevills seemed pretty limited after that point - he couldn't ride and didn't defend well. And then there was the non-contact buckling in the 3rd period. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he'll be okay for the rest of the season.

Overall, Nevills is about what we should have expected, IMO. He would have been better served redshirting this season, which of course was the plan before Cassar's injury (which obviously really hurt PSU's team chances). He's actually pretty athletic for a guy his size, just not in the other-worldly realm of Parris and Steveson. I was a little disappointed the way he was dominated by Cassiopi, but expecting him to be great right out of the gate is unrealistic IMO.

What happened to Nevills? He lost a bout. No biggie, IF he follows the process. With the coach's help, he will, but ultimately it's up to him. Get back in the room, improve your technique, work on your stamina, then come out and beat the guy next time.

About the Seth's knee buckling in the 3rd. I watched it in slow motion a few times. When he was running out during that escape and he dropped down to his right knee, it's because he rolled his left ankle significantly. It's clearly visible if anyone cares to confirm. I'm sure everyone here has done it before and it definitely hurts like hell. Just saying I don't believe he collapsed because of his knee.

That's what I saw, rolled left ankle pretty good. Done it many times myself and it does hurt like hell and makes me very cautious for quite a while afterwards.
