What's the update on Berge?

Spitballin here but any chance Joe Lee would be considered at 57 if he can make the drop?

Perhaps -- but only if Cael thinks his points would put us in a better position to win a title. A lot of solid guys at 157, Lee probably 2-2 or R12, optimistically 2 pts + maybe a little bonus.

Since his last official weigh in was at the Scuffle, he could've gone 157 vs. Maryland (if he is certified there and had descended).

Since he didn't, he's not an option at 157, he isn't one yet, and/or Cael hasn't given up on Berge.

You have a named source for this? If you don't, it's a pretty irresponsible post to make. Yesterday he was reportedly at the Mayo Clinic.
I interpreted that the first three replies to the disgrace-guy OP were sarcastic, including the reply you ask about.

Yeah I'm not sure his ceiling is higher than 6th or 7th at 157, not that an AA ceiling is anything to sneeze at. And he's been at 165 for 2-3 years now so 157 may not be possible. Just searching for points if indeed Berge doesn't see the mat again this year.

Hearing that berge is out for the year

Str8dblz has been on the Berge's gone for the year narrative for a few weeks now (The top quote above was posted on Jan. 19th)

I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he heard that from someone close to the program (or someone close to someone close to the program).

Berge and his doctor are probably uncertain right now about whether he'll be able to return to the mat this year, so whoever told Str8dblz he's done probably is just guessing.

But Str8dblz repeats it like he's sharing some juicy morsel of news with us.

Either Berge is done for the year or he's not, so there's a 50 percent chance Str8dblz and his "source" will get this one right.

Just from a factual perspective, no one has clarified if he is even certified at 157. If he isn’t, it’s like trying to get to London without a passport.

Scenario perspective: if he IS certified and on a descent, I might not have had him weigh in anywhere yet. Give him time. It might have been good to get him into Edinboro, but if he’s not stabile at 157 yet....hold him out even if he did descend all the way. Honestly tho, him suddenly wrestling down there for the first time in years....sounds like a gassing crapshoot to me. That takes time.

One fact unknown. The rest is just thoughts.

Heard rumors he may be out for the season?
Do you have a job or do you sit around all week and rile up wrestling fans for no reason go to hr and tell them there's a rumor Spencer is done for the season maybe you'll get what your looking for

You usually don't go to mayo clinic if your getting better,so he probably not going to wrestle until he is symptom free for a while.

Wow! So you’re saying athletes get well before they compete? Who woulda thunk it! o_O

That is diametrically opposite to what another said about the clinic. Is it good or bad then?

Reading anything into visiting the Mayo Clinic is a fool's errand. It could mean anything from wanting another opinion on why he's not feeling well to wanting confirmation that he is fit to compete without additional risk. Nobody but the family and coaches have the facts, and I don't see either posting on here. If it were one of my kids I would without doubt take them to the Cleveland Clinic to be evaluated. It's top flight and 11/2 hours drive from home. Wouldn't you get your kid checked out at the best facility available?

Get healthy. I would think he would be granted an extra year. No?

Whenever I have to drive by the clinic, I honk and harass the hoity-toity dipshit doctors and suits who don't obey crosswalks. It bothers me an irrational amount.

There was a hoity-toity doctor in Houston who dilly-dallied at the threshold of an elevator too much despite the warnings. Door pinned him and he was sliced/mangled in 2 pieces with an arm and half his face left in the elevator in front of a terrified woman.

No matter how smart you are, heavy machinery can take you out in seconds

Hey now, some of us are just normal guys who don’t get murdered by elevators.
