When does Senior level wrestling start again?

This Z-Money will be sitting, basically, Mat side. Of course, can't really get "Mat Side" in a baseball stadium, but they are good seats. Looking forward to seeing The USA squad and how they fare against the Iranians. Looks like some pretty decent wrestlers coming across the pond to go up against some pretty good wrestlers from our side. Will prolly be tougher than what I think it should be.

On the other mat, Okie State is about to experience a clean sweep from the great state of Iowa. Could get ugly!

Mike
Glad you have a good seat—but it looks like Team USA will be sitting for this one too. :(

Oh, I see now. Good Grief!

Maybe they should have seen this as a problem well in advance and brought someone like, IDK, Japan or China. I'm sure Russia is out of the question. What about Turkey?

Turkey!

They have had issues in the past getting Visa's out of Iran. I'm not surprised this happend.

We shall see what the contingency plan is going forward. Maybe some Cuban's. Hopefully something FUN

Downey is a notorious flake. He missed a kids clinic he was scheduled to do recently. Didn’t show up for WTTs, etc.
Got it. Thanks!

(To be fair, the Iranians are saying they’re cancelling because some of them were denied visas by the US.)

Idk, leader of the wrestling program saying "Death to America" may have had something to do with it. Sad because he probably would have been killed if he didn't.

But the words “Death to America” just came off your keyboard. So can I report that you said “Death to America”? How do you know that the reports that he was taken out of context are wrong? And why do you say that he would have been killed? Does the US have a history of assassinating its many critics merely for criticizing? If not, then why did you just slander America?

Uh… why are you first to call names? Why not just answer my actual sincere questions? And why did you bring politics into this thread?

Huh?
Sad because he probably would have been killed if he didn't.
I infer the above means "Sad because if the leader of the Iranian wrestling program didn't use the phrase, then the Iranian government leadership may have killed him."

Hey, Rhino, I got pissed at your sentence

“Sad because he probably would have been killed if he didn't.”

Because it sounded like you were saying you are sad because the guy got denied entry, because if he didn’t get denied, he would have gotten his deserved death in America. Yeah, that sounds crazy, but that’s the kind of hate people are spewing everywhere I look these days in our country.

Now that I reread it, and in light of your long history here, I see that you probably meant if he didn’t say it the authoritarian Iranian government would’ve killed him. That type of hyperbole is just ordinary and I would not have been pissed.

Ah yes, 98pounder is smarter and less cynical than me. He posted while I was posting. Thank you! Sorry, guys. I need to stop reading and posting to things. The amount of hate in our country is making me bummed out and not thinking right. All I really want to do is joke around.

Can't remember if it was here, or over on HR, but..........

Death to American doesn't really mean that. it basically just means Beat America or Feak America or Damn Americans........not really death. It gets lost in translation.

But, I think the guy is a complete tool for not ensuring he could get his team over here. just plain poor planning on someones part.

Over on The Mat, there are a couple of Iranian guys who post in a couple of threads on the International forum. I’ll see if I can find it, but one of them translates the phrase for the non-Iranians in the crowd.

Here’s a quote from a poster over there:
no
this interview has nothing to do with this dual or wrestling in general. it was the second anniversary of Soleimani's killing and apparently it was a show talking with people about how we can keep his memory alive. and Dabir (who apparently had a kind of friendship with Soleimani) is saying whoever does his job properly is making his country better and therefore that's how we can keep his memory alive instead of just shouting "Death to America" while doing nothing else for the country
some people intentionally cut only that part of the interview and used word by word translation to make it looks like something else and it seems that worked very well for them
So, Dabir was literally saying that shouting nationalistic slogans and propaganda is pointless, and that people should work to improve their country instead.

6 and a half years of watching non-stop hate will do that to anyone.

Well, yes, in Iowa which we all know is less safe than Iran.

The letter from Iran Wrestling Federation President Ali Reza Dabir cited the fact that six members of the proposed 35-person Iran delegation did not receive visas from the U.S. State Department.

6 out of 35 sounds like a lame excuse. Hope plan B can be solid, if not scintillating.

Who were the 6? That's weak if none of them were the wrestlers on the card. Figure it out Iran!
