When does the schedule come out normally?

Perhaps....and the location is attractive for a lot of people. Good idea.

Va Duals are kinda lost so may as well have a new tourney to look at.

I've posted many times Im cool with national duals BUT and a BIG but.... not at the cost of THE national championship.

sooooo....doing the nat duals as part of semester 1 and having it between semesters so as to not have school work impacting the teams, seems on its face a good idea. The fall doesnt have a lot of competition as that traditionally happens in Jan-Mar, so they would be fresh and injury free (as much as possible)

then make it at a destination location during the winter when the midwest mafia and NE Kings are looking for warmer climates and it again seems like a winning idea.

This would be at a cost to scuffle and the midlands but maybe they can modify their schedules a bit..i dont know. Lot of history at the midlands and wrestlers/wrestling coaches do seem to be history loving bunch

I like the building blocks if this is the sneaky plan all along.....but again not at the expense of THE national championship

anyone want to bet that this transitions in 5 years to the new Nat duals?
You could be right and Penn State may go. If I remember correctly, Cael never had an issue with National Duals - his issue was with when they were scheduled. If they were scheduled in February, he didn't support them as they were too close to the B1G and national tournaments. If a national duals tournament is conducted in Dec/Jan, I can see Cael supporting that (as long as any outcome doesn't impact scoring at the national tournament).

this should be a future FRL discussion topic

could be called behind the curtain with @smalls103

A true national duals championship, one with the NCAA flag flying over it is not a likely happening. As an official NCAA championship ESPN would probably broadcast it, but there would be no additional money floating into the NCAA coffers. The money necessary to make it happen means the tournament would need local sponsorships and ticket sales great enough to be able to find at a minimum a financial break even point. Not very likely.

A nice competitive dual tournament, from a fan's point of view is a great thing. However instead of people worrying about a "national duals championship" the concentration should be first class event that programs want to attend. There should then be an effort put forth to market the event to fox sports, ESPN or another network.
Let the event grow into something of significance.

Calling my shot: 11/16 @ ASU.

Basis: Absolutely nothing.
Bold choice(assuming we have to wrestle in Az), but with the keystone classic being 2 days later I am going to say no. Looking at what we know already from other sources, I would think maybe the weekend of 12/8 would be a possibility with some other west coast team thrown in.

If you're right, that means a LOT of driving for me the next few days to catch some good wrestling. Lancaster, CA to Phoenix on Thursday, then back to Lancaster on Saturday. Then Lancaster to Bakersfield and back on Sunday and Lancaster to San Diego and back on Tuesday. Then back to Phoenix on Wednesday for Thanksgiving. Good thing that I own a Prius!

Does anyone foresee Pitt being back on the schedule within the next few years or know why we haven't had a dual with them in a few years?

Pitt will probably end up on the schedule sometime in the future, but there isn't a sense that a match with Pitt is necessary or important. Wrestling Pitt or Kent State or Buffalo is the same thing. As in football I have a similar feeling with wrestling, I would rather see future schedules have Appalachian State on it than Pitt.

Limited competition dates. That's it in a nutshell. With Lehigh as an "every year" rival, one other dual against any number of PA schools each year will likely be the case.

Sandy said that the priority is competing for national championships. so it's important to schedule contenders like West Virginia.

(At least that's what she said when asked about Pitt football.)

Oklahoma State releases their schedule this afternoon.

No PSU .... but:

12/20 - Reno tourney

1/1 & 1/2 - Southern Scuffle

Next dual 1/12

..... looks like John Smith can send his entire team to the Scuffle this season.

He could, but will he? I can't imagine he's going to send all his starters to both Reno and Scuffle, less than two weeks apart.

Not sure if it is accurate but wrestle stat has a 2018/2019 schedule up. Also, the dual projection for PSU/tOSU has some weird predictions.

Accurate, but not complete. It is the pieces of our schedule that have come out from our opponents releasing their schedules.

My educated guess ....

If it was away, to Ariz St, then I would assume there would be a CA team as well ....

Fly cross country, wrestle Fri & Sun, fly back.

Is there any chance that a trip to Reno and ASU can fit together? Or a finals in the way?

Penn State and Ohio State
By the time this dual happens Bravo Young beats Pletcher. Berge beats Hayes. Penn State wins 125.
