Never understood why people think they have the right to bother celebrities when they’re on the street, in restaurants, bars, etc. I have no problem with people asking them for pictures and autographs at shows, publicity events, etc. But show just a trace of basic human decency and leave them alone when they’re eating, shopping, etc. I always roll my eyes when you see those internet whiners complaining that celebrity X was rude to me when I asked for a selfie while they were at a restaurant with their family. What gives you the right to interfere with their private life?
Several years ago I just happened to end up sitting across the aisle from Denzel Washington at the BIC for the PSU-Penn basketball game. He was in the area filming that runaway train movie and his son was a player on the Penn team. While he got a lot of looks, I was glad that only a couple of people approached him, and they waited until halftime. For me, I got a kick out of watching him just be a parent and a fan, heckling the refs, cracking jokes about the Penn coach, etc.
While I might envy their bank accounts, I sympathize with what they have to put up with from the press and public.
