Where are all the Pribulla Package haters now?

Because that package worked once doesn't mean it didn't take snaps from the starter.

That package was a net loser.
They won a very tough and vitally important game the whole way across the country because of that package. They won all the other games using that package to set up the play that won the USC game. The facts are not in your corner. In addition, the game experience provided to Pribula allowed him to step in when he was desperately needed and seamlessly engineer a win. This time halfway across the country and in a very hostile setting. Nice cherry on top and complete vindication for the coaching staff.

Just curious. I suppose if has a bad game the will wiggle their way out of their wormholes again. In fact, I am sure of it.

Before that happens, remember one thing. He is gamer and we are
My biggest complaint regarding the Pribula package was that Drew stayed in the game and seemed kind of useless. The double pass kind of neutralized that criticism however teams will certainly be ready for that, and actually USC seemed ready for it save for a great catch from 44.

But to your point, it has been worth it certainly in terms of getting Beau ready and keeping his head in the game.

I still dislike subbing out your leader and an extremely capable QB, for a gimmicky type play where you reduce your useful players to 10 in most instances. You ruin the flow of the offense and the QB. I want to see Allar in there finishing off drives and producing on 3rd and short. Everyone is seemingly pointing to the pass back against USC that resulted in a TD .. yeah, they forget the (at least) 2 times prior in that game where Beau was brought in and we crashed and burned and the offense was then out of whack, which helped cause us to be in a position to need a big play to bail us out. Who's to say we wouldn't have scored on an Allar pass had he stayed in there on that play (or we otherwise would have completed the drive with a TD), regardless?

Now, did it help Beau out when he was forced to come in to this game? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

But I don't see these things as being the same issue ... Beau played awesome against Wisky. A little shaky in the beginning (completely understandable), and then he found his groove and brought it home for us. And, at least for now, I feel pretty comfortable with him at the helm, if that's what's needed going forward (though I'd prefer Allar to return and be healthy).

And I still don't like bringing in Beau to run a play or two and pushing Allar out to the side of the play

He didn’t just throw a pass. They won the USC game with that play which was set up by what they did previously with that package all season.
Right, but it's a single bullet holster, they used it....I don't think it means that previously or in the future, the package has to include both qbs all the time.

We ran it maybe a dozen times ... or actually probably much more than that ... often unsuccessfully and helping to stymie a number of drives during the season ... just so we could pull off a trick play that we may or may not have actually "needed" and which will probably not be useful going forward, even if both QBs are healthy? That doesn't seem like an overwhelming vindication when we have (had?) a very capable QB at the helm, regardless.

No. They nearly lost that game because of that package.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Doubling down doesn’t make it better. The facts are plain to see now that it happened. What could have been is just that, maybe interesting but irrelevant.

So they sabotaged a number of other drives throughout the season just so they could throw one trick play?

Perhaps if we had another TO that we didn't have to call when Beau was out there, in order to avoid a delay of game penalty, we could have avoided a bad situation, or created a good one. Perhaps if we hadn't false started when we were goofing around with a hard count by Allar, and then switching it up with Warren moving to QB, we wouldn't have needed that play (not a Beau issue, but a switching out the QB issue). And so on ...

And, of course, you're just trolling ... that play didn't win the game. We were moving well on that drive. A drive that kicked off the 3rd quarter, and we had already driven down to the USC 32 ... and it only brought us to within 7 in a game that eventually went to OT.

Without the Pribula package there is a very good chance PSU is 5-2 right now.

With it, PSU is 7-0. You cannot improve on 7-0.

Sure you can. 8-0. The Beau package is so good, we already won a game we didn’t play. While we’re making up pro-Beau-package lies, we might as well go big, right?

Are you seriously trying to say the USC game would have been a loss without Beau's ZERO scrimmage yards?

You’re exactly right. Obvious. Succinct. Clear-cut. Open-and-shut. But I’m sure, as always there will still be those ankle-biters who can’t give it up. Circular logic, moving the goalposts, name calling. Rinse and repeat.

OSU is going to bring maximum pressure if Pribula plays. He did pretty well against Wisconsin but OSU has better athletes.

Allar has had more experience with pressure from teams like OSU & Michigan. It also helps that he's 3" taller and better able to see over defenders.

I expect to see more of a ball control offense if Pribula plays. Screens, rollouts, shovel passes, etc.
Tyler Warren will be Beau's best friend on Saturday along with Singleton out of the backfield.

If you believe your spin, should PSU install a Grunk package this weekend?

Pribula was successful vs Wisconsin after they ditched the Pribula package and made Pribula the starter. Notice how his backup did not come in and disrupt the rhythm?

I think a big reason why Beau was successful vs Wisconsin is that he's had a lot of in game experience. Not garbage time, either. He's played meaningful downs in a lot of football games. That's going to help in a situation like we had against Wisconsin.

We’ve been over this a thousand times. Coaches play their best players. The reason Pribula has been playing is, while he is the second best quarterback, he is one of the best offensive players on the team. Hence, he plays. Since the coaches know what they’re doing, his play to Warren won the USC game and his playing time throughout the season prepared him to win the Wisconsin game. The third string quarterback is the third best quarterback on the team but at this point is not one of the best offensive players, hence he doesn’t play much. It’s not rocket science. It’s Coaching 101.

Now, if only that experience shows against the Big Boys!

That was not a package out there in Madison. That was an offense, and knowing Coach K, that was probably 25 percent of what we have when Beau is running the offense.

Get them both ready this weekend and force them to prepare for both.

Yeah not many guys could throw a lateral to the starting QB do he can throw for a long TD.

It was not a lateral. You are intentionally minimizing the fact that Pribula had to throw a backwards pass halfway across the field accurately and on time. We have all seen these types of plays go sideways, even in the NFL. The fact that we had a quarterback executing the play increased the potential for success exponentially. I don’t know why people can’t admit they are wrong even after they are proven wrong. #humanpsychology

We ran a lot of shovel passes to Warren and Kaytron to offset Wisconsin's pass rush as well.

I am not seeing very many quick outside passes this year. We've run a handful for Warren. You know, the QB throws a bullet to a WR on the sideline who has a companion receiver block for him. The Patriots won four super bowls with that play.
You'll see that play about 10 times by our opponent this weekend. We seem to only run this to Warren and he does really well with it. I'd like to see us run it with two tight ends blocking (Warren & Dinkins) and singleton behind them. Big bodies and the ability to break one tackle really helps. You get Singleton free on this type of play and it can go a long way.

I think we're building to that--see how often Singleton was lined up as a WR last week. He's been a decoy a lot--that will change--probably this week

Be a cool fan chant : Tyler ................................................Warren !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sung to the pseudo limerick WE ARE ....... PENN STATE!)

My favorite thing about this season is how AK uses , and puts the spotlight on one of the very best players on this team. Warren has been exceptional this season . And I hope he is THE featured player of this game .
