I know this is a very open ended question without any qualifiers on how to make your choice; but you can state your reason for why you make your selection. My overall favorite is John Cappiletti as he is still the only Heisman Trophy winner from Penn State, I was at Penn State when Cappy was and got to see him run through holes and opposing defenders, and he is genuinely one of the most grounded players to wear a PSU uniform!

Todd Blackledge. He led us to the promised land which was denied to the 68, 69, and 73 teams.

A player that has grown on me more and more in the last 4.5 years-Franco Harris. He has stood up for us in the very dark times and I wish him well and support him. Solid for Penn State and a four time Super Bowl winner with the Steelers.

Carter and Collins! Took my son to the game in 94' when they played Rutgers! I think Collins threw for well over 300 yards and Carter had 3-4 TD's.

There are far too many good men who have worn the blue and white. Some with numbers on their helmets, some with names on their backs, and some with the basic blues. I cannot select just one.

Was friends with Shane, Trey and others in 86 so they were my favorites.

I love that fact that PSU can claim such a great guy, football player and scholar as John Urschel, even though he plays for the Ravens.....you have to love this guy.

I really like what Saquon Barkley brings to the table as a player and from all that we hear that he is a great guy in the locker room and in the community......fast becoming one of my favorites.

So many great players that I loved to watch, have to go with Curt Warner. Loved watching him cut and accelerate on a sweep play. So quick like a cat and cut up the field through a hole
Curt Warner is a good pick, as he may be the best RB we had that had as equally great NFL career as he had at Penn State.

Conlan as well. An often underrated player who would rank up on my list was Mark D'Onofrio.

Blackledge and Warner because they led PSU to the 1982 National Championship.

The entire 1986 defense for leading that team to and THROUGH the Miami Hurricanes for the 1986 National Championship.

Michael Robinson for leading the team out of the dark years in the 2005 magical season.

Michael Mauti for everything he did on and off the field between July and November, 2012.

Franco Harris for his leadership since Nov., 2011.

If I interpret your handle right, we are in the same class.

Mike Reid is the rock solid foundation of PSU's success over the last 50 years so he has to be my choice.

Charlie Zapiec, who went 34-1 as a starter for Penn State (1968 - 1971), made honorable mention All-American as an offensive lineman, and 1st team All-American as a LB. And I knew him when I was young, growing up at the same playground, where he was like a god.

Franco uber alles, for the reasons noted above.

I say this even though I am a Raiders fan.

So many great players and men of character through the years. But as my avatar depicts, the first of the Grand Experiment guys -- a FB/MG turned DT who was as accomplished at the piano or on the stage or at the song-writing desk as he was on the field -- MIKE REID.

MRob, the guy played with heart.

Shane Conlan - tough, fast, athletic. Could do it all. Never wanted any recognition.

Curt Warner - one of many valuable pieces to lead us to our first National championship.

Mauti. Beyond his play on the field.
Which one? Yeah, I know, I know, I'm just yanking your chain. Seriously, I posted and then someone brought up Mike Mauti and I was like, yeah, he's the man. No single player did more for Penn State than he did and one reason this isn't quite understood is because he defused a bomb instead of putting out a fire. People forget how close we came to ruin and the people who planted the bomb had every expectation that it would go off and take the program with it. Mauti represented. God Damn, Mauti represented.

Fairgambit, that is a great photo of Cefalo in the Cotton Bowl vs. Baylor. I was at the game, in the freezing cold, when true freshman Jimmy Cefalo worked his magic on the SWC champion Bears. I think (therefore I am ... wrong?) Cefalo might have been the first true freshman to start under Joe in 1974, perhaps a year after the rule allowing freshmen to play took effect.

I like Paul Posluszny, Always thought he led by example and is an all around great sample of the Student Athlete that Coach Paterno envisioned for his Grand Experiment. I have many others as well.
