Which WR do you expect to have the most receptions this coming season?

Tough choices here.
Hamilton. He runs shorter routes, WR screens, etc. Franklin uses those to compensate for the lack of a running game (high percentage, keep the OLBs from crowding the LOS). Lewis catches more balls downfield.

Godwin will light it up this year. However Hamilton will be number 1 with receptions and Godwin total yards.

I'm going a little contra with this response. All four are incredible receivers, but I think Hack has a tendency to preferentially throw to the receiver he thinks will physically go get the ball. These tendencies really surface as the season progresses.

My predictions.

1) Brenneman is Hacks preferred target, assuming play calling from the sidelines lends itself to same, but that's another post for another day, but this staff just doesn't seem to understand the importance of the TE position.

2) Hamilton (6,'-1", 211) gets the early preferential treatment

3) Lewis (6'-0", 175) gets the majority of the seemingly never ending 5yd outs with this staff, but that's another post for another day.

4) Blacknall (6-3, 215) gets underlooked early in the season because of his relative youth, but as the seaon progresses it becomes evident that he is the most talented, NFL caliber receiver on the squad.

4) Godwin (6-2, 205) tied for 4th with Blacknall only because they're young relative to the upperclassman, but this kid...along with Bkacknall ...could make for the best WR tandem PSU has had in history. The kid has the physical attributes, but this season needs to be his hungry season, making the most of his limited opportunities. I purposely listed him tied for 4th, not because I think he belongs there, but there's only so many passes that can be thrown in a game.

6) Thompkins (6-1, 211) is one year away from greatness. Has the height and could benefit from 10 more lbs, but doesn't have the seniority to get the necessary reps or looks.

In closing...

How in the Hell did we recruit such a stable of WR studs? All of the above names are incredibly talented. All would be household names under Mike Leach.

I feel okay about our upcoming season...the WR position is the least of my concerns, but that's another post for another day.

Also, how does Juwan Johnson fit into all of this? Dude is nicknamed Megatron Jr. I think he sees early action.

I'm shocked no one had mentioned Juwan Johnson. You know we're loaded at WR if he's not getting more buzz on this board. When we landed "similar" top end WR recruits like Chris Bell and Justin Brown, the board was full of outlandish FR season predictions and how they would dominate the red zone.

I think Megatron Jr. definitely plays and makes an impact. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays and Blacknall Redshirts this season.

No way Blacknall red shirts unless he gets injured.

And not to get carried away, but Charles Irwin could eventually be the best of the bunch!!! I don't think he chose to come to Penn State to be redshirted with such talent! Don't be surprised to see him on special teams and work his way into some WR situations!

Betcha Polk becomes the surprise of the group. Really liked his film and think he has a chance to own that slot position.
