Lee and Nickal

I guess gassing people from bottom is the way to go against Minny wrestlers.

A lot to be happy about tonight. Nolf going postal trying to finish (I think he wanted to break the tie with Zain for falls), Keener's no quit fighting back to a decision, Lee's dismantling of Thorn (he was pinned), Bo's domination, the Zain intimidation factor, etc.

I felt that Cenzo could have pushed the action a little more but I know how hard is it to go against someone who won't wrestle you.

The Minnie coach could not find the challenge towel and tried for quite a while to get the officials attention. Can't imagine why he was checking his phone on the way back to his seat.

Anyone else get tired of the elementary coach yelling "get your angle" and "tilt" EVERY MATCH? He was right in front of us so may be that is why it bugged me so much.

Over all, another great night in happy valley. Can't wait till next Sat!

I watched the match in person, once last night when I got home and again this morning with my morning coffee.

I am very impressed in the goofer technique of putting your head on the mat. They spent minutes upon minutes trying to use their forehead to get escapes. They even did it right off the whistle to throw their unsuspecting lion opponent off. I was always taught back pressure to come up and then out. not these guys, by putting their head on the mat, it allows the lions forward pressure to drive their heads right down even harder into the mat. Brilliant!

I applaud their efforts to forge new techniques. If they can use this technique to gas their opponents from bottom watch out NCAAs!

The Nolf match particularly, imo. Seems Minny scouted the Nolf upper-body-leg-throw thingy that Jason's developed with the new danger-zone rules. Jason gave the leg several times, and his opponent just laid, weight forward, head-on-the-mat, holding onto the ankle. Honestly believe it could have been a DQ...only missed by one stall call. No shots from neutral, and little movement from bottom.

Because they value Thorn's shoulders more than Bleise's?

Point taken though. I still think it had to help his confidence.

My only disappointment was not getting to see Zain on the mat. Driving home last night, the realization hit us that our times to see him are very limited at this point. Which makes the drive to Piscataway that much easier Sunday.

Totally true. I will also appreciate driving 40 minutes each way instead of 3 hours each way. :)

This is the best post I’ve read in years! Totally cracked me up!

Nickal looked awesome last night and 'sheed did his thing (again!), but my nod goes to Nick Lee for demolishing a similarly ranked opponent in Thorn. Impressive!

...from bottom.

Reminds me of the George Carpenter love after his match with McKee. I don't understand why Lizak, McKee, Thorn, and Bleise aren't one weight up.

Yes -- this is a drum I've started beating recently. How many more times do these guys have to hit the wall in the 2nd & 3rd periods and lose matches (or come dangerously close to doing so) before the staff realizes they need to bump up? Especially now that they are forfeiting 149.

I forget the match, but I would have sworn he kept yelling "look for his weakness, look for his weakness."
I said to the guy to my right. That is a bit open ended, but who knows. Maybe that is as specific as he van get.
