What's Mike McQueary up to these days?
I am thinking either Jimo Cantafio or Mark Duda.Kermit Buggs?
Jordan Norwood? coaching in the DNA and Jordan was one of those "self made guys" that seem to be good at teaching because they didn't have that God given talent. Plus, he's a SC kid.How about Derrick Williams????
Any former PSU coaches let go by BOB worth bringing back?
It's too bad Terry Smith doesn't go "both ways".

Why would you specifically limit or target that group? Penn State is a strong program now and growing stronger. We can and should vie for the best and the brightest, regardless of whether or not they coached at Penn State recently.Any former PSU coaches let go by BOB worth bringing back?
Naturally, his list cannot be fully finalized until he's read our message boards!Wish I could get a peak of the short list of coaches JF keeps handy
Well Gattis will be driving a $100k car down in Tuscaloosa. A Shelby Mustang maybe??
I hope it's a long list. Seem to be going through a lot of coaches. My guess is coach Franklin has a backup plan in place when this happensWish I could get a peak of the short list of coaches JF keeps handy
One of JF's latest Twitter follows is a former PSU, RB great. Is it possible we hired Corley to be WR coach and will bring in Blair Thomas to be RB coach?
The duties of a coach are to recruit players, provide specific training for their role on the team, and help them maximize their potential on and off the field. Just because someone hasn’t coached an all American wide receiver, doesn’t mean that they aren’t great at all of the things a coach is supposed to do.Would you want the Army WR coach to be our WR coach? I think that would be an underwhelming hire if that was the course CJF went. I’m sure the Army WR’s are amazing at blocking since their offense is not known to pass and stretch the field, but I want a real WR coach.

CJF coached wide receivers in the NFL. I trust he'll pick a the right man for the job.No doubt! I get that, but in addition to all that I want my coach to be able to know and teach the fundamentals and “little things” of the position and if you’ve never been a WR or coached them I would prefer someone else. But at the end of the day if a coach is picked by CJF and is wearing blue and white in the fall I’m supporting him.

I am in the camp that believes that Penn State should not direct coaching searches with a focus upon the pool of former players or coaches who have coached here before. I know that this is a "fan" issue and not a tendency or even a thought process entertained by CJF or Penn State. That being said, we shouldn't exclude former players of coaches just because of this history.
Now, discussing the coaching search to replace Gattis, some have floated Bobby Engram's name, but have indicated that he is unlikely to leave his NFL role for a college / lateral move. When looking at an article today about the class of 2019 crystal predictions to Penn State, however, I see that Bobby's son is listed. This isn't startling news, but I'm wondering whether Bobby could have an interest in coaching his son in college and consider coming back to Penn State to do so. I'm not sure whether little Engram is going to play WR or CB in college, but there would still be a lot of value in coaching in the same program. It's still a long shot, but something more than an impossibility.
That sums it up.CJF coached wide receivers in the NFL. I trust he'll pick a the right man for the job.
of all the criterion for hiring a position coach or coordinator, "Penn State roots" would be about #45 on my listI am in the camp that believes that Penn State should not direct coaching searches with a focus upon the pool of former players or coaches who have coached here before. I disagree. Stability is an incredibly important aspect when hiring a position coach. Look at what a powerful force LJ sr was to the program. Nothing is more powerful than a passionate and talented lifer as your position coach. It's gonna be hard to get that from an outsider. I agree though that coaching ability and recruiting ability totally trump anything else. But if those are close you give it to the guy with program ties.of all the criterion for hiring a position coach or coordinator, "Penn State roots" would be about #45 on my list
