Wow the poll is exactly 50/50 right now. A part of me wants the easier matchup. But playing Georgia or another SEC team in the Playoff at Beaver Stadium in December would be pretty sweet.

I think ND has hit their stride and are a dangerous team. Thir QB Riley Leonard is playing really well. While their shedule is rather weak they are putting teams away by very wide margins, they have a strong running game with speed at the WR position. Al Golden (DC) has built a solid defense. At this time they have remained healthy.
ND is basically the same team as PSU. On offense, they have a great couple of running backs (on par with PSU). Offensive line that has played better than expected (on par with PSU). Good stable of tight ends (edge PSU). Wide receiver is their big weakness on offense (would still give them a slight edge on PSU). And a big QB whose hype exceeds production to date (would give a slight edge to PSU). The main difference offensively is Leonard's mobility.

Both teams win primarily with defense, though. Their defense has suffered a number of injuries to really important players, but they've still managed to be very good on that side of the ball. PSU vs. ND is a coin flip.

Give me any of the SEC teams, just because that's who I want to beat. Playing them in the December cold would be nice, but I fear with the finesse style of ball PSU plays these days, it wouldn't be much of an edge.

Where’s Lando, who said if we lose 2 games we’re definitely still in.
I agreed with that analysis based on past year’s final ranking and records. I said no 2 loss SEC or Big Ten team would miss the playoff (and said that it was possible a 9-3 team might slip in…based on past years..)

But…these new super conferences are different beasts. Scheduling has caused more great teams to drift away from each other. Most years we played Indiana in the past, for example.

We’ll see though…our prediction might still come true. Two weeks left.

Best teams are O$U, Tex, Ore, ND, Ga, Bama… everyone else is lumped together. Funny thing is Bama and Ga will have play first round up north!

Just my opinion on "tiers":

Champ should come from: Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia or MAYBE Alabama (they'll miss Saban)
Tier 2 (depends on draw): Texas, Penn State and Ole Miss
Tier 3 (might win a game if they get in): Notre Dame, Tennessee and A&M
Tier 4 (no chance): Boise State/Any AQ, Indiana, SMU/Miami and anyone from the Big XII
