Beautiful - perfect - Fall night tonite in the NW corner of PA. Climbed down from my ladderstand in the corner of a woods and found my blood-covered arrow in the green field, 30 yards away. Got two Amish buddies down the dirt road (interrupted their supper) w bright headlamps and flashlights. We trailed the doe into the woods, where she had died in seconds. Packed her onto my John Deere Gator under a starry sky.
Every deer is a trophy and a lifetime memory.
Good luck fellow nimrods. Post your stories.

Congratulations! I’ve taken many deer. I’ve yet to take one with the bow. I plan to pick that hobby up when I retire. Right now my fall Saturday’s are a little busy. I’ll bow hunt when I can go Monday through Friday.

Best of luck finding a nice big buck!

I presume they were pushing your Gator?

Thanks RLC. That was my 30th deer. Not a lot for 56 years old, but between work, interruptions and incompetence, my history.
I started bowhunting in Lancaster Co. In 1979. Bear recurve and Bear compound.
Used an old, 1960's Ben Pearson Colt for several years recently... and really enjoyed making cedar arrows... but that bow finally broke... so i'm using a crossbow this year.

Good luck to you in rifle season!

Season in Iowa opened October 1st. Trying to fill my black powder tags now. Will start concentrating on archery after this weekend. Still lots of corn in the fields, however I love the early rut hunting.

I’m working too much to get out archery hunting during the week, and my dogs are top priority for limited hunting time. Hopefully next year will be more open time wise.
