Why Do They Even Pretend That a CFB Game Lasts 3 Hours?

The "guide" allots 3 hours for a game. When you record a game, you always have to add the 1.5 or 3 hour extension. Sometimes, the game gets broken into two recordings which is irritating. CFB games are ridiculously long yet they continue to program as if they last 3 hours. WHY?

Commercials to pay the freight.

Shorten halftime!

Eliminate kickoffs!

Change the referee reviews!

But don't you dare change the fact that there is a commercial, a kickoff, and then more commercials. That has nothing to do with the game running long.

I think there were 4 commercial breaks in the first half hour of the game yesterday....just absurd. Some scenarios are just so ridiculous like when there’s a replay...commercial...replay confirms touchdown...kick extra point...commercial....kickoff....commercial. Right there 3 plays can take 15 minutes or so.

The "Last Play Is Being Reviewed" is killing the flow of game. I understand the attempt to get the call right, but some of the stoppages are ridiculous. I'm amazed we were able to survive before this eddict. In my opinion, follow the NFL with challenges. It would be an improvement.

I was at the game yesterday, and there was no flow with these stops.

Agreed. Replays are out of hand now. The game is being stopped for several obviously correct calls per game. Fans have gotten used to these choppy games over the past 20 years or so, but football games weren't always this way. It is the price we pay now that nearly every game is televised, but excessive replays make it even worse.

I wonder if they have been told to replay more plays so that they can add more commercials - that one where they guy from NW was three yards from the first down marker was ridiculous.

Do you still pretend to fit in a ten year old suit ? ( I know I do, damn dry cleaning shrinks everything, I don't care what they say)

During the NW game there were three plays in a row which were reviewed, the last of which was Barkley's short TD. I can see reviewing the scoring play but the first two weren't that close and there was no need to review them.

Yesterday’s game was 3’17”. I thought it would be done in under 3 the way the first half went.
Unusually quick.

Yep. 3 plays took 20 minutes. We were hoping to get out before the clouds opened up. Plus that Mickey Mouse stadium had Little League lights. It got real dark on the field.
