a player like Wimbush is exactly what the type of QB that is hard to blitz 7 players on a regular basis. Wimbush was also very highly ranked nationally (top 10 QB, Elite 11, big headlines), and everyone knows him. McSorley is essentially invisible. Nobody ever heard of him, and we have never seen him play a down even in BW game. I think JF is afraid to bring McSorley into any game, due to the potential controversy. he is already having to answer why he cannot get same results from Hack that OBrien did.
However, Wimbush in many ways is nearly on equal footing with Hack from incoming reputation. Actually, I think Wimbush had bigger passing numbers than Hack did in high school. Bringing a Wimbush type player in would be less controversial for him - easier to explain. it wouldn't be great, but he could more easily justify. I never thought the Wimbush de-commit would be so significant.
my prediction for McSorley is he will come in for mop up hand-offs, assuming we ever have a game like that. if we are getting beat up (i.e. what you might expect in CBus), then Hack will be in the entire game. the next meaningful play that McSorley sees will be in spring BW game assuming he plays.
