Oh boy, their defensive scheme and execution surely sucked.
As an aside, wonder if Lebron thinks "it's the shoes"?

I know you're joking but if they lose next year to Michigan in any fashion he might be gone. They won't tolerate being 2nd to Michigan or anyone else. They should fire Day also, he is owned by Michigan
So many experts here have touted Ryan Day as one of the very best coaches in college football. They should fire Day also, he is owned by Michigan
He landed on third base as if often said.So many experts here have touted Ryan Day as one of the very best coaches in college football.
Did he forget how to coach today? Perhaps ole Jim Harbaugh isn't such a bad coach either.
That's a good questionMost important question: how long before Harbaugh goes back to the NFL?
If Michigan were to win the cfp, I'd say 100% "he gone".
Now, I think it's 50/50.
Harbaugh has done well. Very well.
Not to mention what he inherited. So many experts here have touted Ryan Day as one of the very best coaches in college football.

Do you think he'd give up the complete control he has at Michigan?
I feel like it would have to be a great opportunity with an elite QB or a top 5 pick to get a QB if he likes one. I don't like any of them lol
Agreed--his ego can't accept that he didn't win a SB. I think Minnesota would have been a good fit last year. Although I like Cousins more than most. Don't think he can win a SB but might be able to win the NFC this year.He would have took the Vikings and Cousins if they offered the job this past off season reportedly.
I think it ails him that he couldn't win the Super Bowl as a HC. He practically tanked all the playoff goodwill in recruiting for the interview.

Adding Hockenson was huge as well. If you double Jefferson good luck stopping TJ, Theilen and CookWorse QBs have rings than Cousins, but in the current QB-centric league I can see why Minnesota went with Connell. Shifted from Cook to Jefferson as the focus.
Despite what some experts here may think, Harbaugh is a good football coach. He landed on third base as if often said.
His career at SF and Stanford says it all.Despite what some experts here may think, Harbaugh is a good football coach.
Made a Super Bowl as well. Jimmer is dancing to the beat of a different drummer. but he is an excellent coach. His career at SF and Stanford says it all.
Minter is a good DC could end up in the NFL again at the same position.Made a Super Bowl as well. Jimmer is dancing to the beat of a different drummer. but he is an excellent coach.
Apparently the Cowboys didn’t have any trouble. Jefferson 3 catches for 33 yards. 2 for 21 last year.Adding Hockenson was huge as well. If you double Jefferson good luck stopping TJ, Theilen and Cook
Harbaugh is a good coach; just a miserable person. Day has one of the best QBs and the best receiver in college in Harrison and several other good WRs and he coached way too conservatively today IMO. Of course the defensive breakdowns were inexcusable. So many experts here have touted Ryan Day as one of the very best coaches in college football.

True--we'll see what happens if they meet again this yearApparently the Cowboys didn’t have any trouble. Jefferson 3 catches for 33 yards. 2 for 21 last year.
Ohio State used to always have some dudes on defense. They haven't had a dude in a couple years. Yeah they have some good defensive players but that's about it. There aren't any Shazier or Jenkins or Bosa's or Laurenitis or Hawk or Gholston on these teams.
Zach Harrison is a very pedestrian top 5 rated recruit.
Is this the result of an offensive minded coach? The fruits of 3 or so years under that type of leadership?
J.T. Tuimoloau single handedly beat Penn State this year, but your point is well taken.Ohio State used to always have some dudes on defense. They haven't had a dude in a couple years. Yeah they have some good defensive players ...
Yes we will.True--we'll see what happens if they meet again this year
The DB coach should be gone.Oh boy, their defensive scheme and execution surely sucked.
As an aside, wonder if Lebron thinks "it's the shoes"?
I don’t know his role in the defense of playcalling or the scheme, but I’d get rid of your defensive coordinator and your linebacker coach first. Your linebackers weren’t good enough to stop the running game so you had to commit safeties into the boxThe DB coach should be gone.
You said it all my man! You said it all.... Boy, I am really concerned Allar is Hackenberg 2.0. We need him to be more JJ McCarthy like. If he is a stand in the pocket and pass guy and the defense does not need to be concerned with him beating you with his legs we are stuck at 8-4 to 10-2 zone again. In this division that gets you nothing. I just hope the staff gives Veillaux a real long look because his performance against Rutgers (I know it's Rutgers) last fall was very smooth. Let's hope for the best!J.T. Tuimoloau single handedly beat Penn State this year, but your point is well taken.
I'm pretty excited about PSU for next year - Lions definitely have some dudes on defense. If we get the QB play we are hoping for, next season could be allot of fun.
He sure did but he hasn't shown consistent dominance like the dudes I mentioned. Those guys were the best at their position in the country. JT had one great game. He only has 3.5 sacks on the season. I'm not even sure that gets him to 2nd team all-conference, although that prime performance against PSU will help with the optics, which post season awards have a lot to do with. I don't think OSU will land one defender on the 1st team all-conference and that's a problem for themJ.T. Tuimoloau single handedly beat Penn State this year, but your point is well taken.
Did you watch the TD passes that McCarthy had yesterday? They looked like punts more than passes, The OSU CBs were so bad and so far out of position that any QB could have made those passes. For all of the accolades that he is getting he only completed 12 passes against a secondary that doesn't even belong in the power 5 much less a play off contending team. You said it all my man! I know you can’t “take them away“ but if you do take out the three long passes, because twice the receiver was 10 yards from the nearest defender, and the other, he broke a tackle, and no one was within 20 yards after that, JJ looked rather mediocre.Did you watch the TD passes that McCarthy had yesterday? Jim Knowles is being paid 2M to provide a defense for that game. He and Ryan Day made Franklin on his worst day look like a Lomdardi/Shula/Walsh reincarnation yesterday.
They have dudes. They don't have coaching. Their recruiting classes have been #1, 2 or 3 for as long as we can all remember, every single year. They have more 5 stars than the entire big 10 combined. If they don't have dudes, it's because they aren't getting coached not because they lack talent.Ohio State used to always have some dudes on defense. They haven't had a dude in a couple years. The line of scrimmage is still the battleground for wins and losses, a lesson both Day and Franklin need to learn.I know you're joking but if they lose next year to Michigan in any fashion he might be gone. They won't tolerate being 2nd to Michigan or anyone else.
Fair points but JJ also was able to deliver in the ground game and that is the part that concerns me about Allar.Did you watch the TD passes that McCarthy had yesterday? Usually, OSU has enough offensive firepower to get away with this - they get far enough ahead to force an opponent out of their running game. You can't play 4-2-5 vs a power running team.
It semi-worked in the first half when the defense was fresh, but they gave up the big plays that kept Michigan in it.
....
It's hard to have a good feel for what Allar will do running, though my guess is that he won't be great at RPO or planned runs but will be an effective scrambler.... If he is a stand in the pocket and pass guy and the defense does not need to be concerned with him beating you with his legs we are stuck at 8-4 to 10-2 zone again....
