Worst (most disappointing) concert - Van Halen Spectrum 1981. They were just out of it, and the audio was bad. I was 16 and it was a waste. Really disappointed. I know they have done a lot of great shows but that one was just bad.

Worst Movie - The Birdcage. I know it's a remake of La Cage Aux Folles, and had Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman. But it was just boring. May be the only movie I ever walked out on.

Stephen Stills. Circa 74 by himself. At Shippensburg. There ain’t no up to turn man. As he said after people bitched.

Concert: Chicago a few years ago on tour with Earth Wind & Fire. The band was great, but the lead singer was awful. He sounded like Joe pesci with a sore throat. At the end when EW&F singer sang their songs it was great.

Comedian: grandma Lee from NBC's comedian competition. She had the shakes and wasn't funny at all. I'm going to take heat from this, but George Carlin at Zembo in Harrisburg maybe 2 years before he died. He seemed to forget he was supposed to be funny. It was just an hour long rant.

Theater: Cats. Just a WTF was that experience.

I am a big Carlin fan but you will get no argument for me. At the end he was just very, very bitter.

Hate to say it but The Stones in Philly. 1978. They played for 70 minutes and a riot ensued. They were...not good. To be fair, Mick was recovering from the flu. One of the openers was Foreigner and they were maybe the worst band I ever saw.

I've never been to a really bad concert, that I can recall. Probably Jimmy Buffett because it was outdoor, a couple next to me was screwing and two women tripped over me and spilled their drinks on me.

Not sure it qualifies as a concert but I saw George Carlin at the Akron Civic Theater. He was testing out material for an HBO special. He launched into a series of jokes and about 1/3rd of the audience walked out. It was not long after the first gulf war. He stopped and asked why people were walking out and elderly gentlemen got into it with him. The guy was a WW2 vet and gave Carlin a few examples of sacrifice by people in his outfit that gave their full measure. He ended saying that these guys died so that Carlin could say what he wanted but that this decorated veteran didn't have to stay and listen. Carlin lost his stride, most of the audience, and never recovered. That material was not used in his HBO special. I knew the manager of the Theater and she often got me special seats. Contrast this to Gallagher who got into it with her before his show and started to spew her will sexist comments about a woman managing a theater...then went out and got a standing ovation (it was early before his act got old).

The worst movie was Pulp Fiction. The movie was getting a lot of hype so my expectations were high. I didn't find it interesting, funny, dramatic or educational. I thought and still do, that it was just gratuitous violence with a handful of snappy lines. While his stuff has been OK, I've never gotten the QT vibe and most others have. Perhaps the next one was 'The Crying Game'. Disturbing movie in several ways. However, very educational with a really great performance by a couple of actors.

Your Carlin experience was similar to mine. And CATS....OMG, I saw it at a massive venue: Detroit's Pontiac Silverdome. We had a loge. It was awful, it was a mile away, and not a single person was watching 15 minutes into the performance.

Oh, almost forgot

Saw some Stones cover band at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, Pa - maybe 5 or 6 years ago. We drove through the snow to go, so that added to the bad experience. The lead singer was OK, the band was OK, but when the lead singer tried to use a fake Mick Jagger voice to speak to the crowd it was comical. They hired some local woman to sing some of the back up, and she did not even know the lyrics - had to use a lyric sheet that she did not read very well.

Elvis Costello, this year in Hershey. Music way to loud and you could not make out the words he was singing. did no acoustical in a small venue

Concert: The Who at the old Schaffer stadium in Foxboro circa 1989. Honestly the band was great but Daltry pulled a stomach muscle trying to scream during Won’t Get Fooled Again and couldn’t continue. Townsend has to sing all the songs and it was comical

Concert would be The Replacements opening for Tom Petty at Garden State Arts Center. I bought ticket primarily to see them- because I'd already seen TP many times alone, with Dylan/Dead. My cousin didn't know their music at all. They were wasted and awful. From what I could see I was the only person on my side of the venue trying to enjoy their show. People booed. My cousin immediately panned as his worst ever.

Movie- a midnight viewing of A Clockwork Orange in The Forum. My then girlfriend was the Arts Editor for the Collegian. Her interests were more cultural, mine almost only music and sports. She had hyped the movie showing so much in the paper, begged me to go to show with her so she could report on it and interview people afterwards. Critically acclaimed to a packed house...and I absolutely hated it. I was not expecting the violence and didn't find it humorous or "artistic." Killed my beer buzz...

REM at the Spectrum. Probably '95ish. I was expecting so much from them, but the show was really boring, low energy. Allanis Morrisette Jagged Little Pill tour. Probably about the same time frame. Same story...just a slow, boring show.

Movie: Lego Movie (for my daughter). Just awful.

My wife actually made me leave Interview with the Vampire. Made her sick.

Worst concert - tie - Phish 11/18/95 North Charleston, SC they were terrible that night, just not on the same page drug wise which meant not on the same page music wise. The real kick in the nuts was that it was one week after the best concert I have ever seen in my life - which was Phish on the last night of a three night run (the Thursday and Friday shows were very good but Saturday was just fantastic) at the Fox in Atlanta. 11/11/95 at the fox is just F'in great! The other concert I have walked out on was DMB at an outdoor amphitheater south of downtown Atlanta. They just could not carry a crowd of that size. It was the third (and last time) I same the DMB. The other two times were at a bar called Atlantis on the outerbanks. Those shows had 50 and then the next summer 250 people tops - I thought DMB was great in venues of that size then seeing them in front of 18k - they just sucked!

Worst movie - Daredevil with Ben Affleck - I should have known.

The two worst movies I saw were both because of dates. One was my fiancée at the time, and we saw “Up Close and Personal” with Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer. The other was on a first (and last) date. We saw “Where the heart is” with Ashley Judd and Natalie Portman. Both should have been released on Lifetime Movies, but I don’t think it was around yet.

MC Hammer Don't Hurt Em Tour with special guest... Vanilla Ice. 1990 at Hershey Park Arena. My housemate dragged me there. To this day I don't know why.

Worst movie for me was 'Sucker Punch' - Zack Snyder's original IP follow up to 'Watchmen'. On paper (or in the trailer) it had tons in my wheelhouse - hot girls fighting robot samurai, dragons, big action sequences, and Emily Browning, who I was and still am a big fan of. But, the ending is so awful (main character is lobotomized) it's not worth watching again.

Runner-up worst movie is Armageddon. It's so shmaltzy, formulaic, and up it's own ass so far it's almost a comedy.

Worst concert was Rufus Wainwright at Wolf Trap in Va maybe five years ago or so. To that point I'd seen him probably a half dozen times - all knockout performances. For whatever reason (maybe the venue?) he was just way, way off and not very funny or charming. Thankfully, his opening act, Ingrid Michaelson, and guest performers - Teddy Thompson and Krystle Warren were tremendous.

Worst show I saw was Chicago in London's West End. I love the show usually, but the performance was really clunky - the female lead got sick halfway through the first act and she was replaced by the second lead (not her understudy), and it was just off the rest of the night.

The worst play I ever saw was on Broadway believe it or not. It was “Titanic” a musical. Songs were awful and as the ship sank they actually tilted the stage and furniture crashed etc lol. The tickets were a gift (Gee wonder why?!), and as you might suspect, the show didn’t last long.

I saw a group called "Grandma" at the West Coast Fox in Long Beach, CA. The group consisted of a drummer and a bass guitar - all they did was instrumentals. People were calling for them to leave the stage shortly after they started. They were a warmup for "It's a Beautiful Day" which was a great show.

And of course the best was Dirty Alice at the Chuckwagon in Olongapo City, PI.

I was there too. You are correct. I was stationed overseas when they returned in 81 My buddies said Mick apologized for 78.

Peter Tosh was 3rd act

Worst concert - Fleetwood Mac at JFK. Lyndsey Buckingham was good but everyone else, especially Stevie Nick's seemed to be elsewhere. Short show as well.
Show - Cats on Broadway. It wasn't bad, but wasn't up to hype. I enjoy most plays.
Movie, agree with Obli, I really disliked Pulp Fiction and for that matter all Tarantino films. He can make a good storyline bad, real bad, to the point of being unwatchable, in my opinion. After that, probably Something About Mary or Johnny Dangerously or anything with Will Farrell.

Kids movies..jeesh....I recall seeing a movie named "Fantastic Mr. Fox" with my daughter and sleeping. A real mess

Worst concert: Aerosmith - Done with Mirrors tour (late 80s early 90s). They played a lot of new music and lots of people left early. Tyler even acknowledged it during the encore and said all the people that left missed the best part of the show (they played Dream On and some other song I can't recall). The best part of the show was when Tyler fell and cut himself and had to leave for two songs. The band improvised and played instrumental Red House and a Led Zep song.

Worst Movie: One of the recent Star Wars movies and 42, which was so over the top. Only two movies I ever fell asleep to in the theater watching.

REM at the Spectrum.
I saw them at Hershey. Stipe ruined the show talking politics in between every song in a long droning monotone. It removed all of the energy from the stadium. You just wanted to stand up and scream "Shut up and sing!".

Many moons ago I saw Chicago on Broadway with Richard Gere and a couple of other big stars and in my opinion it did not live up to the hype. Don't get me wrong it was ok just not worth the ticket prices.

The worst film I ever saw in a theater (plenty worse in TV) was Tim Burton's remake of Planet of the Apes with Mark Wahlberg.

What an epic disaster of a film.

I don’t like many movies so there would be far too many for me to name. I don’t go to plays unless my kids are in them. I’m also not much of a concert goer but my candidate for the worst concert I ever saw was Seven Mary Three (Cumbersome was there big song) at the Tradewinds in Long Branch, NJ. A few of the guys I was on a hockey team with convinced me to go. I last about 1/2 a song before walking out to the back bar and ended up knowing the bartender. I got absolutely hammered on complimentary screwdrivers waiting from my crew to emerge and leave.

Worst concert is easy for me... and I blame myself for getting talked into going. A buddy of mine and myself let two girls talk us into going to an Indigo Girls concert in college. Not my scene, not my musical style, so many "not my" phrases that could be placed here. The ladies next to us had more underarm hair than I did. Not sure anyone had showered in weeks. It was late fall, and hot as hades. No air on in the small, intimate venue. Just horrible, horrible experience.
I am not saying all of their concerts were like this experience. And if you are a big Indigo Girl fan, I am glad you enjoy them. But there was no college girl worth that night for me. We left before the second set.

Outside of that, been pretty blessed on concerts. Most have lived up to their billing, or my company was good enough that I made the most of the experience.

Movies? So many bad chick flicks that I have sat through in my lifetime.... or Hallmark channel movies, lol.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cringe during the Ape mating scene- gawd that was awful lol

couple months ago I wasted $2 to rent the last Rambo movie. I thought, well, I’ve seen all the others, let’s see how this ends. Uggh.

Is there a worse movie than the remake of "Wicker Man?" Spoiler alert: Nicolas Cage is thankfully set on fire at the end. The entire film should have been burned and Cage banned from ever working again.
Concert -- Maybe Blood, Sweat and Tears at Rec Hall. Not what I was expecting after their first album, and new lead singer David Clayton Thomas didn't impress me.
Show: I was staying in Vegas before heading to the Fiesta Bowl, and my ex dragged me to see some monstrosity that was appearing at our hotel. It was all done on roller skates going up and down ramps pretending they were a train speaking in a 4-year-old's voice. I kept thinking "get me out of here!"

Yea that was bad. I like his other work but man some of his stuff...Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows were about as bad as bad can get.

That Rambo was quite awful. I saw it on rental though so did not count as worst.

My favorite scene in Planet was when Marky Mark decides he is going to leave in and the woman runs off. Then two seconds later he is leaving and she is standing there crying.

1.Live Act- Colin Quinn doing stand up at a comedy club in Philly. His MTV game show was hot a the time. He was drunk/stoned and could barely get a word out
2.Movie- Jonathan Livingston Seagull. IDK how anything could be worse. Dad was stationed in Germany, and we have one tv station, AFN/AFRTS. The budget for the Armed Forces tv was such that cancelled tv shows were a staple. Movies were $0.35 for kids. We pretty much saw everything that came though the post in the mid-70's.
3. Boston in concert at Hershey. Maybe ten years ago. It was just flat, no energy.
