Would Pete Carrol USC team beat Saban / Bama using their best teams to compete?

The 1994 PSU team would beat Bama's team from the past 5 years. Bama has won with very, very good defense but decent offense. The 1994 team's defense would be able to hold any of the past 5 Bama offenses in check and I think the 1994 offense would score easily on any of the past 5 Bama defenses.

The 1994 Penn State team and the 1991 Washington Husky team would be a real Clash of the Titans, IMHO. I would put them ahead of any of the USC or Bama teams.

I think those USC teams were all around better squads during their run than the Bama teams have been during Sabans run

the USC offenses were better, especially at QB, that is the biggest difference IMO.

if they had a playoff back then, Slippery Pete would have won a few more titles .... that 2008 team would have won easily. (now whether they were clean or not is a different story)

Especially they way those USC players were (allegedly) juicing as you suggest. I can't stand PC.

No. Sabbath teams play D. Carroll USC Teams didn’t.

they didnt play defense?

Pts allowed per game and total D rank

2002 18 ppg. / 18th
2003 17 ppg / 17th
2004 13 ppg / 3rd
2005 22 ppg/ 35th
2006 15 ppg / 11th
2007 16 ppg / 2nd
2008 9 ppg / 1st

and thats in a more pass happy conference than the SEC or B10

They were definitely not clean !

I think a lot of people remember the Rose Bowl vs Texas, and with the memory of Vince Young playing the best game of his career and think that USC didn't play as much defense as Bama does under Saban. Completely wrong.

While they were never quite as dominant as Bama has been, they were just behind them. Additionally, they typically had much better passing offenses and the running backs I'd call a wash, maybe leaning towards Bama. Both teams had great special teams play, minus a few years Bama couldn't buy a FG (Kick 6 season for one).

Honestly dont know how the '08 USC team lost a game, that defense was something special. Thought that team could beat any bama team.

Yeah would've beaten Fla and Tebows head in that year. Felt like they just wanted Bradford and OU in that game which sucked. That was a special team one bad half against ore st on the road on a Friday night. Ended up losing that game 26-21 I still don't know how our guys lost that.
