Bizarre story. Retired hockey tough guy gets stabbed by a cactus plant while golfing in Arizona.....gets massive infection.... in a coma for a month....gets new heart valve, kidney, and liver. Three separate operations done over two days,19 hrs of actual surgery. followed by paralysis.
Says he was out golfing when he bumped into a cactus that attached to him. Says friends had to pry it off with a golf club. Two weeks later he is on death's door with infections. Drs say it may have been due to a teeth cleaning the week prior.
Weird how life can take a sudden turn on something so minor.
