It is/was the most disturbing video I've ever seen in my life. I'm at a total loss for words this morning. Something has to be done.

The gun nuts and the NRA didn't do anything after a bunch of 1st graders were gunned down. They certainly aren't going to react to a reporters death.

If I believed gun regulations would actually end gun violence or prevent these types of things, I'd support it. You can think I'm a nut if you want, but I don't support regulating things just so I can feel good about it if I don't believe it will actually help prevent what it intends to.

Adam Ward, VT grad, one photo show him wearing a polo shirt that really looks like PSU chipmonk logo...? Am I seeing this correcty?

Who said the NRA needs to do anything? And btw, I'm pretty sure there was a bill just recently submitted for consideration in the Senate that is backed by the NRA that has something to do with mental illness being reported to the government for purposes of background checks when purchasing fire arms. This guy was obviously mentally disturbed, if not ill.

funny all I heard and saw on the videotape was a handgun shooting people, lots of gun shots, but no nuts. So the video would seem to contradict you and suggest it was a gun shooting that killed those people......

The video I saw was from the shooter who apparently had a set up on him so he could record the shooting from his point of view (he was definitely a nut with some mental issues). He stood behind the camera guy holding the gun out at them for like 20-30 seconds. They didn't notice as they were focused on the interview. It then showed the nuts hand squeezing the trigger multiple times. The shooter was apparently a former employee who had grudges against these 2 reporters (calling 1 a racist and upset the other reported him to HR) and definitely planned his attack. I see reports where police now say he's still alive after shooting himself in the car chase.

The nut's video is on YouTube. I won't be watching. The station manager said he doesn't think the nut's time at the station even overlapped with that of the woman he shot, so presumably they didn't have any interaction. I see that he accused her of racist comments but I don't know where that would come from.

Tell that to the parents of the dead first graders.

"It showed the nuts hand squeezing the trigger multiple times."

So apparently the gun somehow grew fingers, hands, arms, a body, a head, legs, and feet all so the gun could kill someone? Hmmm... funny because last I checked guns don't have brains.

Maybe from something online or her news presence? In the end it doesn't really matter though. No amount of rationalization can justify this creep's actions.

How many mass murders do you have in a place like Japan compared to here?

How many millions were mass murdered in places run by the National Socialist Worker's Party like Germany, when the National Socialists disarmed the populations?

My reaction to the shooter pausing was that he was waiting until the reporter was back on camera before pulling the trigger. I thought he pointed the gun, realized the camera was pointed away from her panning the area and waited - very calculating and cold-blooded.

WDBJ-TV president and general manager Jeff Marks said Flanagan was fired from the station two years ago, and that police were called to escort him from the building.

“Vester was an unhappy man,” Marks said during the station’s noon newscast. “He had a reputation for being difficult to work with.”

The more I hear on the radio and read in related articles I get this picture where he seems like one of those people who are just impossible to deal with. Always looking for offense in any comment.

Of course you are correct.

The same people who want to protect the gun by calling him a nut would be the first to protest the use of an insanity defense. Some people want it both ways if it is their way.

sadly, it takes an Aussie comedian to call out our gun culture and dismantle every BS argument you're going to hear ad nauseum today

NSFW:

Except all his arguments are BS. I love Jim Jeffries, but what is he or you suggesting that would've prevented the horrible things we've had happen here? The attack today was with a small glock. So all handguns are to be banned? Sandy Hook was a small caliber rifle. Most hunting rifles are significantly stronger that what was used there. They're to be banned too? You really think banning them will make them less available? If you believe that, I guess you believe drugs aren't the easiest thing in the world to land anytime you'd like.

My problem isn't guns or people owning guns, its how easy it is for them to buy guns, how little back ground there is, and how little training most states have when you get a carry permit.
