Wrestled Away: The Lee Kemp Story (streaming on Amazon)

Fabulous production. Thanks for bringing to our attention.

100%, it’s definitely one of the best wrestling documentaries I’ve seen. Kemp is such an accomplished humble man and he’s been through the ringer. The only thing I was left wanting was more footage of 18-year-old Kemp besting the great Dan Gable. I suspect it doesn’t exist. Regardless, the film sheds light on just how great Kemp was. It also humanizes Gable a bit.

As I watched this documentary and it chronicled Kemp’s remarkable college career, I realized that Zain had virtually duplicated it. We have been extremely fortunate to follow the careers of the champions at Penn State during the Sanderson era.

Just watched it, unbelievable what he went through and where he is now. Would have loved to watch him in his hey day.

Incredible story...I am so glad he is back with his kids and the sport he loves. Refs voting for a winner? That is mind boggling. I am glad that is no longer the case!

Schalles was like “Here you go, take my leg. No, I’m being serious, you can have it.” :D Kemp did go on to win his first of three world titles that year.

Loved the documentary! Thanks for the recommendation.

Kemp was actually still a teen-ager in that match against Schalles and was still two years away from making his first world team and winning his first world title.

Great flick, thanks for this I probably wouldn’t have seen it otherwise. Though I must say, watching the part where my Alma mater Michigan, blows it by not offering him a full ride made me physically sick.

Well, allow me to help you feel better. It was Michigan State that blew the opportunity to get him.
