Wrestling Column: A constant, Jimmy Gulibon

Love Jimmy....sure hope he gets on the podium this year. He sure does deserve it he has put so much time into his self and the entire wrestling team. It would be nice to see him on TV at Nationals on the final day with Suriano, Zain, Nolf, Joseph, Hall and Nickol.

I can't imagine how these guys deal with the pressure of constantly being under the microscope and scrutiny of fans, especially the too often abusive, anonymous forum posters. I agree with the above - good luck the rest of the way, Jimmy. We're all behind you!

I don't know, I think pretty much everyone here has been pulling for Jimmy. Some have gotten frustrated by the odd results, like getting pinned by an average wrestler the Keystone Classic, and have wondered if his heart was really in it at times. But it is so great to see him turn things around the way he has the second half of this season. Real perseverance by Jimmy - just fantastic to see. I hope he makes it high up the podium at B1Gs and nationals. It would make all the struggles worthwhile for him, I believe.

I guarantee that he'll be there on stage with his teammates on TV, hoisting the NCAA championship trophy the last day ;)

I agree and hope he can make AA again, and with a chance to make it a high AA. Jimmy has been a warrior for the team. Always needing guys like Jimmy in the lineup and at practice. We can't always have guys with >95% collegiate winning percentages (but we seem to be getting closer)

If the seeds somehow hold, the same as the current intermat rankings, Jimmy will have a ten seed, and every matchup is favorable: If he gets a first round win in St Louis, he'd have Ward in the round of 16, win there, and he'd have Jack in the quarters, win there and he'd get most likely either Di Camillo or unfortunately McKenna...HOWEVER, anything can happen, and that could be the road to the semis and AA. He would avoid all of the long, lanky, rangy scramblers like Ashnault, Meredith, etc.
