Did I hear them correctly that Hall is weighed in and might burn his shirt

Carpenter fought hard but was overmatched. I can't remember the last PSU wrestler with a 1-8 record.

Another Friday night, another time I find myself unable to watch the match live. Thanks for the updates as always

Were any of the wrestleniks surprised in any way by last night's outcome? As a casual observer, I see it as a very solid win at iowa. Of course, Nickal was outstanding.

Thoughts on Penn State's overall performance?

Couple of our guys looked a little tired, but it could have been the opposition and environment.
In particulate, Zain was pushed to the limit by Sorensen, who he majored in the finals last year. He looked off.
Nothing else was surprising, to me at least. I didn't expect Hall to win out this year, so his loss is not a big deal to me. Good learning experience that will hopefully Pay dividends in the post season.
Suriano proved he is a contender. IMO needs to be more aggressive earlier in match.
McCutchon should not have needed OT to win his match - I guess that was sort of surprising, but again, it was at Iowa and Matt really wrestled the same as he has al year - he needs to find a way to get that second takedown.

Thanks. I appreciate the analysis. Good stuff.

Impressed with Hvy. Weight. Could have been a good OG or DE in a pinch with the line injuries.

You hear the term dancing bear and I could not imagine a more apt description of Nevills. Heavy, Heavy hands and quick hips and feet. He was a take down machine against IOWA.

He had about 5 take downs the last minute of round 3.....with him being a young gun, along with Hall, along with Bo, Zain, etc....... strong team for a minimum of 2 years with this core.

Very impressed.

If I remember correctly, Oklahoma State is #1 and Penn State is #2. Has anyone seen Oklahoma State wrestle this year? How good are they?

Spladle?? We used to call that a cradle. Are they the same or is there something different? Tia
The spladle was perfected and made famous by Wade Schalles. The positioning of the wrestlers and the technique used are what differentiate it from a cradle. I think the name is a mash up of split and cradle. Since it was Schalles' move he could have named it after himself but he opted for "spladle" instead.

When you develop an effective move, you have to expect that people will steal it.
