And yes, they're lame.

Was that a middle school creative arts project to come up with those logos and mascots?

These fake leagues always try too hard to be catchy, different, whatever. It will take a lot more than Luck for XFL 2.0 to survive.

And there hasn't been anyone defending DC for decades
Does their name suggest that the team won’t be playing offense?

The sad thing is that these names/logos are all products of professional marketing firms...somebody got paid a lot of money for the end results, and THESE are the best they came up with.

Of course, there will be fans at each team’s home games that will dress to the extreme to resemble the mascot/logo. Society is a distribution, with a trailing edge.

They do try too hard, but ultimately, I believe there is a place for them. The nfl could certainly benefit from a LEGITIMATE minor league system...they’ve been exploiting colleges/universities for far too long.

I know they went with big markets for a reason, however most of those big markets are not going to give a rat's behind. They would have been better off finding smaller markets like perhaps Columbus, Raleigh, etc. where some folks may actually be excited about getting a pro-ish type football team. Of course that would have meant Columbus had 2. ;-)

Interesting that St. Louis's nickname is BattleHawks.... did they try to bridge to the old NBA St. Louis Hawks nickname? Or did whoever came up with it even know that there was once a St. Louis Hawks professional team?

I like the simplicity of The LA Wildcats. My HS's nickname, btw, so I'm partial. Gimme the KISS approach: Wildcats and Cougars and Hawks and Ironmen and Leopards and Stallions and lots of other good nicknames that don't overlap with the NFL and don't try too hard to be cool. (Because we all know where that got me in HS....).

The XFL has an interesting tiered salary approach, ranging from a few thousand to $60K per game. Also, unlike last time they tried this, they are not allowing players to play in the Arena League or CFL.

I agree that they no doubt did their research, but I like your idea. There are plenty of moderately-sized cities that would welcome an off-season pro football team, especially in the south, but maybe just not to the extent they feel a big city would. Don't know. Raleigh is a very good example. Maybe finding the right stadiums is an issue due to colleges with grass fields not wanting to have them torn up over the winter. But there are plenty of turf fields out there, too.

I'm going to enjoy watching Vince lose a lot of his money.

The logos looks cheesy but I assert that anything new would look cheesy at first. The reason NFL logos don't look cheesy is because we're so accustomed to seeing them. A big advantage the NFL has is the team brands are so built up.

All that said, they named one of the teams the Wildcats? That is lame.

Do you think a name like "The Packers" would work if it were introduced today? "Patriots" would sound so contrived. And a team naming themselves after the owner's last name? Too egotistical. And I don't think anyone would be brave enough to nickname the team in Kansas City as they are currently nicknamed.

Go Wildcats! Only non-cheesy nickname of the bunch!

I’m waiting for people from Dallas to sue the XFL for labeling them renegades. It is also offensive to label people from Seattle dragons, even the crazy women.

The Dallas team ownership could hire an outside "independent" investigator to prove that all of Dallas has a renegade culture problem. That would solve that, and then everyone could just move on.

Free move to any city with no severance (work immediately).

What’s wrong with the Chefs? Would wait staff find it offensive?
