I've been sitting and teaching elementary PE from my laptop in my bedroom for 2wks. I got some steam to blow off...

TEAM DUAL EVENTS: STOP SAYING YOU'RE ONE THING, BUT HAVE THE RULES NOT ALIGN

Anyone who's had the time to read my posts knows that I coach a club (not notable or anything). Right now, with the state of the world, Dual Events are becoming more and more prevalent (more matches and easier travel, in my opinion). I love Dual tournaments, regardless of rule set. I thought the Elite 8 Duals in GA were awesome. You know why? BECAUSE THEY MARKETED IT AS AN ALL-STAR TEAM EVENT, AND THEN THEY DELIVERED A &$^@ING ALL-STAR TEAM EVENT.

USA Club Cup, assorted other tournaments... even the Flo RTC Cup: Not so much. They call it "Club Cup" or "RTC Cup", but it turns into asinine "I can pick up this athlete, who can you get?" I had a parent from TX asking to be apart of our Club Cup team. I don't blame them or hold any ill will, but having some ringer from a state hours away that I've never met on my club's "Club Cup" team seems ridiculous. Even the RTC's seem to be picking up free agents for Flo's thing this week.

I'll finish with this. I realize that any time wrestlers are allowed to compete (and/or make money from it) is awesome and we should commend/support it. I'm gonna watch any iteration of duals online because I love wrestling. Just stop pissing down our backs and telling us "it's raining". Call it what it is and hold people to guidelines.

An idea I had the other day, as I was BS'ing with wrestling folks:

What if we had 8 wrestling "celebrities" draft teams of 10, sort of like fantasy wrestling. 6 Olympic weights +4 alternates to space through the weights (Or, one could do 8 UWW weights and 4 alternates for a total of 12). But imagine Willie has a team, that Stalemates guy, JB, etc. Have TMWC, Sunkist, NYAC, whoever enter eligible draftees and put up a portion of the winning team's funds.

Like this actually makes sense and gives us exactly what it tells us it's giving us. One time, or even yearly. Make the compensation worth the time/training/effort.

Just food for thought.

Speaking of food, my father-in-law made beef wellington in a sous vide for Thanksgiving. It was very good. After gorging on traditional Thanksgiving fare at my parents, it was a nice alternative to say the least. Not to say the traditional meal wasn't great as well. :)

Speaking of Thanksgiving, it really blows the Steelers didn't play Thanksgiving evening :)
That's because the NFL will do anything to make sure the Steelers' opponents are at full strength. Denver has to play with a practice squad WR, but the Ravens can't play with RGIII or Trace McSorley.

You do know that Pittsburgh will be playing RG3 regardless, right? Jackson is still out and Baltimore will be missing like 7 starters on offense.

Speaking of starters, my father and I cut down a 24" pine tree in my backyard on Black Friday. And the chainsaw kept bogging out and then had trouble starting. It seemed to do it more frequently on its side. I don't know.

But the League did not know how that would play out when they postponed last Thursday's game. In addition, the Steelers lost starters (most notably James Conner) from their former eligible status. Earlier in the season, the Titans game was rescheduled to allow Tennessee to regain much of their roster.
But it was weird how the Broncos game was held, even though a delay could have cleared their starting QB and one back-up.
Just pointing out the common thread...

The Ravens situation is totally different than the Broncos. Steelers/Ravens postponed because they went like 7 or 8 days in a row with positive tests. Broncos did not have that, they just had 3 dumb qb's who had to sit because of contact tracing and NFL was not going to allow them time to get them to play. Ravens are actually down to something like 35 players and all who tested positive will still be out tomorrow. NFL rescheduled so they would not have to forfeit or add a week at the end. I am a Steelers fan and would have been happy for a forfeit, but facing RG3 might be the next best thing, lol.

No worries...I'm just bitter because I have James Conner and 2 Broncos WR's on my fantasy team.

Lol, I had Noah Fant who happened to catch the only completed pass for the Broncos. On another note, Flo's RTC cup has taken more hits as they announced on FRL that in addition to JDen out, now Dake and the two Dean brothers are out. NLWC could send their backup roster and be competitive and possibly win.

Speaking of cup, a co-worker asked me this morning if wrestlers wear cups...

Team Kong...ish?
Oh hey, BWI... This is what staying on-topic looks like ^^^ lol

Ya know, though? I don't have any beef with the Team Kong's and Shutt's and whatever else. That's an awesome opportunity for kids to compete. I'm never against that. Just don't tell people it's "club-based" or whatever and then have kids flying in from 8 states that have trained less than 20hrs together over the last calendar year. Have an all-star division. I'm sure the coaches of those teams are great. I don't know them, so I assume the best. If kids are willing to fly all over the country and compete under their banner, they must be something (or... HS kids love clout lol). However, when they start competing against true clubs that actually practice with each other, it gets unlevel and that can affect some stuff.

For instance, we were set and paid to go to Club Cup in the Dells. Personally, I don't give a hoot if we lose 76-0, but we got awesome, competitive learning opportunities. It was a tournament in October for pete's sake. Who the heck really cares? However, we were told the guideline was "the atheltes must be affiliated with your club on USAW's membership page". Any athlete can just up and do that. MN sent a different team over with kids all over the state (and at least one athlete from Poway, CA) that I know damn well don't regularly all attend practice together. They're 5-6hrs apart and we're in the middle of a pandemic. The fact that they're all sharing the love of the sport together is dope. But now (hypothetically), I take my team over, fully-homegrown, and we lose or lose handily (I never plan on that). Now we look weak, lesser than, etc. That can affect business. I'm well aware I'm never gonna get rich off coaching wrestling, but that bothers me. Same thing applies to the RTC Cup this weekend. We're talking about athletes potentially losing money because some RTC rented a ringer for the weekend.

Again, I want to make this very clear to all: All wrestling is awesome. Descriptive rules behind team rules about rosters and everybody knowing what they're getting into is even awesome-r. I'm fired the heck up for RTC Cup this weekend. We need more "Cups" in wrestling.

I'm gonna try to be done being petty now.

Speaking of beef

It always makes me chuckle that you were Batman and I was Joker 5+ years ago on The G, and now its the exact opposite.

You need me, Bruce. Without me, you have no purpose. I'm your sole chance at relevancy on online forums related to a niche sport.

I like the clarity. Happens in all sports. Field of dreams baseball tourney in NY (great venue by the way) is widely known for the teams flying in studs for semi-final or final games. Little league says 0 guests. Soccer will limit it to none or a set number like 3 visiting players...
