You're not gonna win many games when you give up 39 points.

You're also not gonna lose many when you score 38. But WVU lost 50-39 yesterday. And we lost 39-38.

Let me gently suggest that our problem last night was not the offense, except insofar as we could not hold onto the ball enough to run clock.

It was both. To me the big turning point was the offense doing absolutely nothing after a huge OSU turnover at midfield on a third and short. And then we get the punt blocked. Should have put the game away right there. But, agree it was a very disappointing performance by the defense. I suspect that it is not as good as we thought.

I was going to blame my old friend TOP until I saw that PSU won TOP (not by much, but they did win it, and actually won TOP by a fair margin in the 4th quarter.

Take a look at the stats:

Total yardage was just huge for OSU - better stats all round.

Agree with the comment about the offense missing the opportunity on the OSU turnover and the blocked punt. That gave them an opportunity and momentum.

I don't think that is fair to the defense. Losing Buchholz on the very first defensive play was huge. The left side of OSU's OL was not pressured at all the entire game. I would suggest that had we not lost #97 the outcome has a very high chance of being quite different.
