That was maybe the most stunning stat of the year for me. And they won the game, incredible.

I know a lot of players contributed to that masterpiece of a stat, but Coach K deserves the most blame.

Whatever Kotelnicki makes in bonus this year, he should have to pay some of it back for yesterday. His worst game of the year after Ohio State.

The only saving grace is that IF they get past Maryland, which is a big IF seeing Franklin's alarming and predictable trend rear its ugly head in Minneapolis, he and big game James have everything to play for and a legit shot at proving everyone wrong.

MN had two weeks to prepare the defense for Penn State’s offense and had nearly a season of game film on the PSU O. They did a great job of preparation for Penn State’s tendencies and MO on third down situations. It almost seemed like MN knew what was coming. And Penn State players just did not execute well on the third down plays as well. Losing #68 early in the game didn’t help either.

You are 100% correct. Kotelnicki’s first down plays were so predictable. There were too many run plays to the interior of the line on first down. Minnesota was selling out on the first down runs almost every time.

This led to numerous third and long situations.

It is Not much of a trend when the team keeps winning 10+ games

Franklins alarming predictability...
.What a jokester. Koltenicky's hate of running outside the tackles is a big issue. I suspect that will change. If not, the playoffs will end soon. We will see.

It's pretty much an outlier as all year, we've been one of the best teams in the country on third down. I agree the play calling wasn't great, but OL injuries and just being overall flat didn't help at all.

Pay it back to Warren that who has saved his butt.

So did I but it's the truth.

What were they on 4th downs?

3 of 4 on 4th downs. Minny 1 for 1.

Funny thing is, you look at those stats and Penn State won most categories. Despite that, Minnesota dominated TOP.

I think it's reasonable to say that this was an odd game. Minnesota was, I think, helped tremendously by having the bye week.

Watched the replay, more impressed than ever how well Minny tackled. They were terrific at low tackles that stopped promising runs.

Penn State D not doing the basics as well since Manny left.
