100 Days...and counting...

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, Roar, but what match dates have been finalized and published by our opponents thus far?

The NCAA College Wrestling season gets underway 100 days from today (July 24).
Official wrestling practices start in 78 days.

The season will be here before we know it.
Lets pack Beaver Stadium this year and show the ENTIRE NATION we are back to contend for a National Title....A packed Beaver Stadium will make it very difficult for other teams !!!! I get what your saying though....Yes it will be here before we know it and PSU will be winning another NCAA Title....

I appreciate Cael's conservative approach regarding outdoor matches and not rolling the dice against Mother Nature. The safety of the wrestlers should always be paramount. The slightest bit of precipitation would make for hazardous mat conditions.

I'm all for Iowa keeping the outdoor record while we keep the title. Just sayin'. ;)

Fired up to see this entire roster in action. Deep, talented, varied, flexible, and hopefully healthy...

Man, can't wait to see what Cael and the boys have up their sleeve this year.

Not ignoring you, just being careful with my info...
Here's what we know from a Big Ten standpoint (scheduling model, not what's been published);

PSU Home: Illinois, Northwestern, Maryland, Rutgers
PSU Away: Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota

Good to know, but it sure helps if you like football, too. Makes the time go easier. :)

Football practice will start soon. And I won't be sad to see the hot weather of July go.

Yeah, but sure makes for an attractive home schedule next season.

2017-18 (Note: This is NOT this season, but the following season)
HOME: Ohio State, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue
AWAY: Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan St

Thanks Roar. Your discretion and diligence are both understood and appreciated. Cheers.

tOSU date is not firm yet as it is listed as 2/3 or 2/5. Not sure where you got the Rutgers date from as I haven't seen their schedule anywhere yet.
Yep, I was coming back because I just remembered that (but I didn't remember WHICH dual had the option...). Thanks!

Wow, what's the over under on total BIG team scoring at home this year against Cael and the boys?
12 sound about right?

I sure hope they can beef up the home schedule.

No comment on the home schedule.

Not sure if you're joking about the 12 points (over/under) or not, as I see 2 teams that could score 12 by themselves.

That seems very low. Off the top of my head, the following opponents would be favored: Gilman, Tomasello, Clark, Richards, Ashnault, Martinez, I. Jordan, Snyder, Medbery. I'm sure I'm missing some. Plus more if Cassar is not healthy.

The main point holds. Esp as I have a 500 mile round trip for the home meets. Tough to justify for a one hour wipe out (i.e. Northwestern and Maryland).
Realistic over/under, without a hole at hwt this year: 20.
The PSU fan base is solid but they can't keep having lousy home schedules as this year seems to be.

To clarify: Home schedule. An amazingly bad schedule.

Just saw this link posted on the Cornell forum:

See the "Upcoming Events" listed on the bottom of the page. Another "away" match for PSU?

(Note, I posted almost simultaneous with the above post RE: Army - PSU can't be in both places at the same time, can they?)

A tri meet would be awesome if that can be pulled off! Not sure I would travel to a blood bath at West Point but I would go to Cornell as its a small jaunt from my cabin and Ill most likely be up that way for hunting season.

PS- Im still laughing at the FULL COURT PRESS ON MOTHER NATURE!!!

Hmmmm, links both say away matches at Cornell and at Army on November 11. They are close to each other, but not that close.

I get it...commendable that you drive that far...not many make every home dual from that distance :).

Not sure I understand the "keep having lousy home schedules" though. You'll likely be disappointed this year, but Cody shoots for 7 home duals per year, and the Big Ten will be 4 or 5, leaving 2 or 3 to schedule. In 2015-16 (at home) we had Ohio State, Oklahoma St, and Nebraska. In 2014-15 we had Lehigh, Va Tech, Minnesota and Iowa. And in 2013-14 we had Pitt (better days for them), Ohio State, and Oklahoma St. Given the challenges, I believe Cody does a masterful job.

Sorry if already covered Roar, but is the BJC dual this year possibly vs Lehigh? If so, 1 this year or 2? Ty

So how many of you will be in Stillwater on Feb 20 :)

May want to reserve part of a bar or something.

Are you assuming it will be PSU at OK State for the National Duals final? I would love to be there but that is a 2,500 mile round trip that is pretty expensive, especially on top of going to the Scuffle, BIGs, NCAAs, and a bunch of duals. It sounds like we may have a double header against Cornell & Army. That is a much more reasonable trip for me and for a lot of PSU fans.

yes sir. I can't see any other non B1G school coming up ahead of us. Only worry for duals I have for PSU would be the Bucknuts, who seem to match up well.

Agree on OK State being there, although I wouldn't count out VA Tech. We wrestle at Iowa & tOSU, both of which should be very competitive duals. Lots of question marks for us, Iowa & tOSU going into the season. Going to be a lot of fun to see how it plays out.

How difficult is it to get tickets for a home match? Our grandson is wrestling at grade school level and would to have him see some high quality wrestling.
